Proposed activities for SS – III (2009)

Objective: The objective of this course is to prepare the students for the recruitment procedure by exposing them to
simulated situations and hence help them enhance their capability and skills.

Relevance: The focus of this course is at honing the soft skills while ensuring that the domain knowledge of the
students is also worked upon, keeping the recruitment requirements in mind.

Detailed Curriculum / Activities: The areas or the topics covered as a part of the exercise included the following:

• Group Discussions (35 marks)


• Preparing the SIP Script
• Interviews (35 marks)
• Tests (15 marks)
• Group Activities (10 marks)
• Domain Specific Initiatives. (5 marks)

Categorizing students: To ensure an integrated and well- supported conduct of the course, the students will be
divided into groups and a faculty member will be assigned to them as mentor. The mentors are expected to be
closely involved with the group of students assigned to them and conduct the below mentioned activities. There are
4 Sections – A, B, C and D and each section will have 6 groups. Each group will comprise of 11 students. There
will be 24 groups in all.

Group Discussion ( GD) 35 Marks

• General session for briefing the students


• GD will be conducted with external experts in formal conditions and feedback will be given. Mentors to be
involved as observers. Two parallel sessions will be conducted. Each group will have 11 students
• Prior to the above, students will have a round of practice session, managed by the SS faculty and
supported by the faculty mentors.
• In the GD with external experts, faculty mentors will be involved as observers.
• Practice round will be managed by SS faculty and supported by faculty mentors.

Interview 35 Marks

• General session for briefing the students will be managed by the SS faculty.
• Two parallel sessions of formal interview will be conducted with external experts in formal conditions and
feedback will be given.
• Mentors to be involved as panelists.
• During the first round one section will be covered in 1 1/2 days @ 20 mins/ student.
• Practice interview will be conducted by SS faculty with the help of mentors.

Preparing the SIP Script.

Each student should prepare a script about his/her SIP in consultation with the mentor and SIP Guide and SS
faculty.

• The script should highlight the job contents, the methodology adopted, the scope of work, learning’s etc.
• The student will have to prepare a written script of not more than 150 words.
• The student should develop a style of delivering the script orally.
The script should be submitted by 20th June, 08

Aptitude Tests 15 Marks

• A battery of 3 Aptitude Tests. (All Students) Question papers along with the solution will be provided by
SS faculty. 18th June,08; 2nd July,08; 16th July,08
• A battery of 3 General Awareness Tests. (All Students) Question papers along with the solution will be
provided by SS faculty. 18th June,08; 2nd July,08; 16th July,08

• A battery of 3 Financial Analytical Tests. (All Finance Students). Question papers along with the solution
will be provided by SS faculty 25th June,08; 9th July,08; 30th July,08

Group Activities 10 Marks

• Each group to organize an activity on a pre-decided date. The event will be graded for its quality and ability
to attract audience
• The event can be a seminar, panel discussion, a competitive event for the students, guest talks etc. with or
without external resource persons.
• The relative involvement of each student within the organizing group will be evaluated by the mentors.

• Detailed program is attached as appendix 2

Domain Specific Initiatives 5 Marks

Mandatory for all students but the following options exist:

• Registration/ completion of the NCFM/ Derivatives/ other certification program.


• Registration to Bridge Program in banking
• SAP program of IBS Ahmedabad.
• Field project forming part of the regular academic courses (if any).
