ALM-21805 ESL Link Fault Description This alarm is generated when the extended signaling link (ESL) between

the BSC a nd the BTS is disconnected. System Actions After this alarm is generated, the BSC periodically sends a handshake message to the BTS to re-establish the link. Possible Causes The setting of the E1 frame format on the Abis interface board is incorrect. The Abis interface board is insecurely inserted. The interface boards of the BTS are faulty. The transmission equipment or transmission link between the BSC and the BTS is faulty. There is no power supply to the BTS. Handling Procedure Check the Abis interface board. Check whether the Abis interface board is insecurely inserted. YES=>The Abis interface board is insecurely inserted. Go to step b. NO=>The Abis interface board is securely inserted. Go to step 2. Re-insert the Abis interface board, and then check whether the alarm is cleared. YES=>The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete. NO=>The alarm persists. Go to step 2. Check the interface board of the BTS. Check whether the interface board of the BTS is faulty. You ran replace the possibly faulty interface board with a normal board. YES=>The interface board is faulty. Go to step b. NO=>The interface board is normal. Go to step 3. Replace the BTS interface board, and then check whether the alarm is cle ared.

YES=>The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete. NO=>The alarm persists. Go to step 3. Check the transmission cable on the Abis interface or the routing equipment. On the LMT, choose Alarm, and check whether the 21201 E1/T1 Loss of Sign al is generated on the related E1/T1 port. YES=>The alarm is generated. Go to step b. NO=>The alarm is not generated. Go to step 4. Contact the engineers concerned to rectify the fault on the transmission cable on the Abis interface or on the routing equipment, and then check whether the alarm is cleared. YES=>The alarm is cleared. The alarm handling is complete. NO=>The alarm persists. Go to step 4. Check the BTS power supply. Check whether the BTS is powered off. YES=>The BTS is powered off. Go to step b. NO=>The BTS is not powered off. Contact Huawei Customer Service Center. Power on the BTS, and then check whether the alarm is cleared. YES=>The alarm is cleared.
