2010-2011 Annual Report

Message from Metro Womens Center Staff

About Metro Womens Center

pregnant woman has three choices: abortion, adoption, or parenting her child. The relationships she has when she comes to the Center will greatly influence her choices. Is the babys father supportive or not? What will her friends tell her to do? Unless we build real relationships with these women, other voices will speak fear and confusion into her situation, and our attempts at physical and spiritual rescue are compromised. This past year, individuals with whom we had previously formed relationships randomly reconnected with the ministry. A former client called to say, Thank you for being there for me 13 years ago by providing me with a shepherding home while I made an adoption plan for my son. Another woman brought her daughter to us for help. This mother had been a client 19 years ago and had chosen life over abortion for the young woman now standing before us. More recently, a woman called looking for an abortion. She had no gas to get to work and no groceries for her three children and was distraught with the thought of another child. After we provided her with gas and groceries, she said, I called looking for an abortion, and I found hope and friendship instead. At that particular moment in time, she needed relational ministry. This year twenty-three women chose life over death for their babies, but fifteen other women chose abortion. As MWC enters its 22nd year of educating the community about life-affirming alternatives, we thank you for providing the prayer, finances, practical and volunteer support that undergirds this ministry. As you page through this annual report, our prayer is that you will be encouraged and inspired by the impact this critical, relational ministry is having for LIFE. Tupee Garsinii Assistant . . . choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

Mission Statement
Metro Womens Center strives to educate the community about pregnancy alternatives so that informed decisions concerning the outcome of pregnancy can be made. Metro Womens Center places value upon all human life from conception onward. An abortion ends a life prematurely and unnaturally. Metro Womens Center offers a compassionate Christian response to the needs of individuals confronted with challenging pregnancy situations.

Colleen Tronson Director

Vision Statement
By the grace of God we desire to encourage believers to act positively on their convictions and to step forward to assist individuals with challenging pregnancy situations through our outreach. We desire to see men and women brought to a knowledge that life within the womb is Gods creative work, and we strive to share the Gospel with all who will hear.

Thank you for being part of our rescue operation!

Ultrasound Referrals
Metro Womens Center provides referrals for free educational ultrasounds for women who are abortion-determined or undecided about their pregnancies. An ultrasound helps the mother see her unborn childs movements in her womb and hear her babys heartbeat. This is a life-affirming experience for an abortionminded woman. Two women accessed free ultrasounds through the Center this year, and both chose life!

The Acacia Fund

MWCs client assistance fund distributed over $900 in financial assistance for rent, transportation expenses, and other client needs. Ninety-six families initially enrolled in the HOPE Program with 50 families actively participating in the program. These families received baby clothing, equipment, 16 Pack & Plays, 10 infant car seats, and more than 200 packages of diapers.

Our Clients Comments

After my visit here, I felt a heavy load lifted off me. Baby items I received by earning points were very helpful. 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 Colleen was honest with me, and even when we disagreed, she was polite. Did not feel pressure to disclose certain information if I was not comfortable. Emma offered information on all options and encouraged me to choose life. Enjoyed Bible study about what God wants us to follow as Christians. Felt able to talk freely, and I was not rushed through the process. I learned that I can handle my problems differently. 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 Learned about taking care of my unborn baby from the videos I watched. Nancy gave me advice from the Bible; it definitely made me think. Now I dont feel that Im alone in this crazy world and that there is hope. Office was orderly, and very discreet; liked doing my own pregnancy test. Really liked it when my advisor offered to pray with me. 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 Received more than what I expected, encouraging people. Ronke listened to me, cared about me, and was not critical. So relaxed and peaceful here; it took the nervousness out of the experience. Staff was considerate, cheerful, patient, and respectful; easy to open up to them. Learned what God wants from me as His child; I plan to live for Him. 29 30 31 Thank you for being here to help me in my crisis . . . for the helpful referrals. The Center is close to home; respected my privacy; free and fast services. The individual attention I received was great; I felt at home. There should be more places like this; I felt the peace of God in the Center. Tupee showed genuine interest and concern for my issues; very sincere. Notes
Pro-Life Prayer Reminder: Pray that churches would lovingly and compassionately welcome individuals experiencing pregnancy-related crises and that pastors would not be afraid to confront the moral issue of abortion from the pulpit.

6 Metro Womens Center has received a large number of requests from pregnant women seeking housing over the past 21 years. Within 50 miles of MWC, there is only one small maternity home equipped for pregnant women. The number of women needing housing far exceeds that homes capacity. In response to this great need, MWC began a capital campaign in 2003 to establish the Amazing Grace Home (AGH). The Amazing Grace Home will minister to the needs of pregnant women by providing them with safe, Christ-centered housing. The home will provide each resident with basic needs such as food, shelter, discipleship, and life-skills training. Each resident will be offered opportunities to explore decisionmaking options in order to create a parenting or adoption plan for her child. AGH will house women who are in their first 20 weeks of a pregnancy and are at least 18 years of age. A pregnant woman will be considered for the program with the understanding that the home uses Biblical principles as a guide for change. Each womans application will be considered on its own merit and reviewed by an application team prior to admittance.

Our Two-Fold Goal To raise a minimum of $400,000 by the end of 2012 in order to establish the home. To secure future funding for operating expenses of $75,000 annually.
Our hope is that Amazing Grace residents will learn to see themselves through Gods eyes. This new vision, gained through Gods Word, will provide hope for those who were once without hope. We believe it is through the power of Gods love, forgiveness, and restoration that true life changes can occur.
