Author Rita Comstock hopes to highlight a musical legend with the release of her new book, Solid Brass: The Leonard Falcone Story. The book is a biography of Roseto Valfortores Leonard Falcone who, in addition to being considered the greatest euphonium baritone soloist who ever lived, was also a world-renowned conductor, an important leader in the American Band Movement, and Michigan State Universitys director of bands for 40 years. Falcone began his musical career at age nine in pre-WWI Roseto Valfortore, and immigrated to Michigan through Ellis Island at age 16, unable to speak English and in search of a job. After living in Ann Arbor for several years where he worked as a tailor, directed pit orchestras in the areas silent film theaters, and attended school, he was offered a position as the director of bands at Michigan State University in East Lansing in 1927. I wanted to paint a picture of Leonard Falcones life in Roseto before the turn of the last century and of his struggles as an Italian immigrant in America, as well as to highlight his vast contribution to the music world, most especially at Michigan State, Comstock said. In the end, perhaps his greatest legacy is the example he set as a simple man of honesty and integrity. Falcone, revered as one of Americas greatest bandsmen, served MSU as director of bands from 1927-1967, and then taught there and at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake Michigan for another 17 years. He died in 1985. Comstock played clarinet under Falcone's leadership in the MSU concert band in the 1960s. She plans to use all profits from the book to help young people interested in studying music at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan. Visit the website at leonardfalcone.com to purchase the book and for more information about Leonard.

account for half of a wedding's cost. Dinner and drinks add up, especially if couples pay for a full or open bar. To save money on the bubbly, couples should nix the mixed drinks. Soon-to-be-married couples can serve champagne during the toast, then offer beer and wine for the rest of the evening. Give clumsier guests white wine, not red, and the evening should progress with fewer mishaps at a lower cost. After the reception, photography and videography are the second largest budgetbreakers. Couples can hire a photographer and videographer for the ceremony, then leave reception photographs to friends, family and digital cameras. Finally, hiring a wedding coordinator can save time, manage stress and get better deals. So, here's a toast to tweaking traditions to make a dream wedding attainable and save money for a long, relaxing honeymoon. Cheers!

impressed with the originality of the buildings. The shuttle bus took me to each of the eight homes and as soon as I walked out of one, the shuttle was right there to get me. The Inn at Pocono Manor also provided a magnificent buffet lunch held in their dining room, and included live music performed as you dined and chatted about which homes were favorites. The tour began at 10:30am and concluded at 4pm. There was not a rigid schedule, you could tour at your leisure choosing from the map which homes you wanted to see and when. Even the lunch was being served from 11:30am to 1:30pm so you could show up when
it worked best for your day. There was a ticket purchase to tour the homes and enjoy the lunch of $35. This included the shuttle, maps, lunch and tour. The hosts of each home were happy have us tromping throughout their castles and a brief history was chimed in at appropriate moments. It was in 1931 that these homes were allowed to be purchased by individuals apart from the Quaker membership and some
owners I spoke with were only the third or fourth owner since the construction of the grounds in 1902. It was a fun event and I would recommend getting out your 2012 calendar and marking at the top of October, "Check Inn at Pocono Manor website for the Lifestye Home Tour." Their website is Poconomanor.com. If youre ambitious, you may want to book an overnight stay and visit their wonderful spa as well.

A Penny For Life: What is a penny worth? To most people probably nothing. You can't even buy a piece of gum with it. So you either throw it on the ground or stuff it in a can or jar. To a Cancer patient these pennies put together could mean a cure for them. A few pennies put together could mean a cure for someone you
know or love. The team "Ray Of Hope" with The Relay For Life-Slate Belt is trying to collect 1,000,000 pennies to help save lives of Cancer patients. Their goal is to collect this amount of pennies between now and May 15th, 2012. Everyone has known or heard of someone who has died
THE SKY IS NOT FALLING !!! I am passing on these thoughts regarding Real Estate and these current economic times.
