From the Director’s Desk

I feel immense pleasure in informing you that the students of

“Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology” are organizing a
Technical cum Cultural fest “Avant Garde-05”.

Avant-Garde-05 will add a new dimension to the activities aimed at

developing the overall personality of students. It aims to provide a
platform to explore and express the hidden talents.

I hope that all other colleges will extend cooperation for the same and
actively participate in the event. “Avant Garde - 05” is the outcome of
our endeavor to bring to you an informative, competitive and
entertaining mode of learning and interaction.

We hope to make this event a grand success with your contribution.

What is Avant-Garde?

Avant-Garde, signifies something radically new and innovative.

in which students from various colleges are
invited to display their talents in different
fields. This Fest has been organized so as to
provide a competitive, informative &
entertaining platform to students all over.

With the advent of this Fest, a new era in the history of college will
evoke. It will be a highly prestigious event with elite colleges being a
part of it.
The Fest comprises of several events relating to various cultural as well
as technical activities. Most importantly, it provides a stage for student
interaction and exposure to learning beyond the classroom.

TECHNETIUM
In Tech Quiz you will have every chance to hone up your wits. This thrilling,
scintillating roller coaster event can be won only by a team of right
combination of knowledge, reflexes, application skills and hence the
ultimate panache.
Technetium is a technical quiz contest and you will have every chance to
hone up your wits. This thrilling , scintillating roller coaster event can be
won only by a team with the right combination of knowledge ,reflexes
,application skills and hence the ultimate panache.

RULES AND REGULATION

• Each team shall have two members.

• Depending on the number of entries screening will be done before the
final round.
• Decision of the panel of judges will be final & binding.

TECH SPLASH
This is a project display contest and the participants shall be provided with
the required pre-requisites as per their specifications .along with the project
display and the accomopanied verbal explanation they shall be expected to
answer to the queries of the spectators simultaneously and shall be
accordiongly ranked.
Participants are required to give a presentation of their s/w to a panel of
judges. The winner will be chosen according to the quality of s/w,
presentation etc. Original s/w designing and developing talents are invited
for the event.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

• The number of members per entry is restricted to 2.

• Abstract & soft copies for pre-defined projects should reach us by

4 th April 2005 .

• Details of your pre- requisites should be intimated earlier so as to

provide you with the same.

BIG FIGHT
This is a debate session with classical clash of ideas, attitudes and thoughts
providing you the ultimate platform for you to defend your ideology and
viewpoint.
A new concept in debating which provides the ideal platform to speak out
and win.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

• The topic of session shall be given on the spot.
• The judgment about the speaker will depend on his/her speech and
convincing power .
 • The debates will be on thought provoking , hotly contested,
burning issues.
• Topics will be released 10 minutes before the debate starts.

CODER’S CULT

Programming Competition for you.

CONCOCT
You think you can convince your parents??? Ever thought of attending a
Parliament Session! Or you think you can match our politicians! Then this is
the right platform where you can voice your opinion.

PRESTO TRIVIA
This is a technical paper presentation contest. It consists of Mechanical &
Production, Electronics & Communication, It & Computers, and Applied
Science & Humanities.

Participants are required to submit a copy of their paper. These papers are
not to exceed 12 type-written pages and will form the sole basis for the
finalization of the participants.

Those selected for finals will have to present their paper before a panel of
judges. The final winners will be chosen according to the paper content and
presentation.

Last date of submission of entries : 5th April 2005

FORMAT OF PAPER
TITLE PAGE : This should provide
• The Title
• The name(s) of the author(s)
• Name of the institute / university.

MAIN TEXT :
This paper should include a well structured , clear and concise
presentation of the subject matter .The body of the paper should be
suitably numbered to facilitate case of reference.
REFERENCES :
All the references should be suitably numbered and listed in the
bibliography at the end of the paper. Also, all contributions to the
paper must be clearly specified.

ABSTRACT :
A copy of the abstract – not exceeding 800 words ; should be sent
along with each copy of the paper for preliminary selection before
5th April,2005.

RULES AND REGULATION :

• The number authors for one paper is limited to 2 .

• Paper should be typewritten on A4 size paper and should not
exceed 12 pages.
• One copy of the abstract should be sent to the mailing
address before 5th April , 2005 .
• Participants must report in person in person at the control
desk to confirm their registration .
• LCD projector for the presentation would be provided.
• Participants will be allowed 12 minutes for presentation
followed by a question and answer round session of 3 min.

SA RE GA MA
This is a solo singing competition and all the talented participants will be
given a platform to put forth their skills and fight out the contest to the top.

RULES
All you need is you and your voice and the will power to do it through and
belief that it is to you “the voice of the planet”

TAAL
You think you can match with Zakir Hussain or Yaani or Vanessa Mae???
Then be at the right place at the right time to prove yourself….

JHANKAAR
Can you bout the moves of Hrithik Roshan , Micheal Jackson???? Give it a
try…. Here we have a Group Dance competition for you.
This is a Group dancing competition. If you as a team can make us sway to
your tune then what are you wating for!

RULES AND REGULATIONS

• Maximum number of team members permitted is 10.

• The song to be presented should be informed before hand.
 • The team should specify their pre-requisites and get their own cassette
etc. along them.

RULES AND REGULATION

• A maximum of 8 – member team is permitted ; the time limit for the
play is 30 mins .
• The judgement shall be depending on the awareness or idea projected
by the play

MASTI

This is a solo dancing competition. A platform to display your skills and

analyze yourself compared to others from various places with a talent
similar to yours. So this is the time to see, learn, show, fight out and win the
solo Dance contest.

RULES & REGULATION

• The participant has to inform pre-requisites.
• The participants should bring their own cassettes, dress, etc.
• The time and the song selected should be informed to us while
registering for the contest.

Ad Mag

“Advertising is the progeny of creativity”

A platform to launch new Piyush & Prasoon of today & tomorrow.
For all those who dare to be different with a special knack for creating
something special. Create your own special advertisements.
Who knows may be you have your own EUREKAS at RAZZMATAZZ .

RULES

Team Size: 3 members in each group

Prop Round ~ The “Ad-Factor” in you……

Each team will be provided a product and team has to sell it employing all
the tools associated with it (slogans, catchy punch lines, enacting)
Time Limit: 7 mins each

General Guidelines:

· All stationery items and props will have to bear it by students itself.
· Time limit cannot be exceeded
· Organizing committee’s and judges’ decision will be final.
