Planning: ( Chris)

1.

Ill evaluate all the factors within the objective and after analysis, develop a working frame to achieve it. Strategic one.

2. 3.

Yes and this is a must. For example, Ill set a deadline for some tasks in the plan. No. Because of authority and experience. Usually Ill tell my ideas to the subordinates and tell them what to do in order to achieve the goal.

4.

Good. It is usually effective-based. Efficiency is also important but effectiveness is more important in a whole.

5. 6.

Yes. Lack of complete set such as labour force and money More or less the same.

Organizing: (Marco)

7.

Find people who are specialized in doing the work in the plan. The position of the staff is not a concern. Efficiency is important.

8.

Same group of people with one or two new comers. They already have certain amount of ability but I or other experienced workers to do the work together to achieve the training purpose.

9.

Through my first-line managers

10. Not really. Usually the only requirement is the workers need to have certain working experience. 11. Not really. Use through face-to-face communication or during meetings.

Leading: (Matthew)

12. Yes. There are some staff that dont listen to you and do things that they think are right (but actually wrong and the results proved that). They will do things without getting permission of me. 13. Usually through face-to-face communication to analyze the situation together. But if the case is urgent, I need to use my authority to order the staff to do it first. 14. There is no accurate answer for this. If the situation can go wrong without much harm to the company, I would delegate other to act as a figurehead in order to lead all your subordinates but I will observe the performance of them and see whether the delegated figurehead can be trusted or not. 15. Performance-oriented 16. No joke, really good. The staff are fighting really hard for me. There are even staff claim that they were very toilsome (having a hard time) but are happy because they are having me as a leader!

Controlling (Chris) 17. Use (dont know the English). This can yield twice the result with half the effort.() 18. It depends. No specific strategy. But Ill announce the new strategy during meetings. 19. There be any meeting beforehand.

20. There will be kind of orally rewards. I will praise the good-performing workers. No punishment. I will just ask other workers to help the staff next time. 21. Dont know if this can answer your question. Ill evaluate the plans weaknesses and enhance the plan next time.

Motivations ( Alena)

22. For non-managerial employees, we dont really have anything to motivate them. Instead, good-performing workers will be remembered by the manager and their salary will be increased if they have a consistently good performance. For managers, if you meet the sales and profit set by the boss, ALL THE WORKERS including non-managerial employees will have the SAME amount of bonus. 23. Yes. They are extremely lazy. 24. Yes. 25. Kind of. Such as selling moon cake coupons, there will be a list() to indicate the first three places.

Decision Making (Steven)

26. Alter the operating strategy. This is actually the hardest decision as during economic downturn, the company will face insufficient capital and customers decrease. In this situation, your new strategy will not work even a tiny bit of your direction is wrong. Usually insufficient capital is the main obstacle. 27. Open another store and recruiting staff for the new store. For the old ones, no recruiting. 28. Which one has the lowest cost but highest outcome. 29. Just like the above. Money, cost, outcome

Communication (Steven)

30. Face-to-face. Usually during lunch/dinner, when there are only a few customers and meetings. 31. Nothing special. Just directly translate the message to them during meetings. 32. No. If you do so, you will be sacked. I will still try to achieve the objective with the workers but need to be aware of the resources consumption as nearly unachievable goals usually is achievable when you use vast amount of resources and this will damage the balance of assets. 33. Definitely not. In this industry, the workers are rather too dumb to use these kinds of methods. Some workers dont even know how to read Chinese! 34. Meeting amongst staff: Formal once a month Informal - everyday

Meeting amongst all levels of managers: Confidential

35. No. The staff can only tell their opinions to the manager by face-to-face communication or phone to the manger.

HRM (Marco)

36. I will only introduce the company, their position and responsibilities when they first came. And also sorry about that, I dont think training and workshops are related to improving the staff morale. 37. There is only a brief oral introduction to the workers about the new staff and ask the new staff to do a self-introduction. 38. One in 3 months. For good ones, we will give him bonus but may not always be money rewards. For the bad ones, we will condemn them and make them understand what the problem is. 39. Yes, about 50% of the promotions are internal promotion. Usually captain and senior captain. 40. Yes. 41. Yes. There are general rules in the company. And for each store, the shop manager can add extra rules and regulations to ensure the staffs behaviour. Before adding, they should inform the district manager.
