Referencingthesourceofinformationinacademicwritingisseenasimportantfor3mainreasons: Itallowsotherstofindthesourceofinformation; Itshowsthatyouarewellreadandinformedbyusingqualitysourcesofinformation; Itgivescredittothosethatyoucitefortheacademicworkthattheyhavedone.

Notreferencingproperlymaybeviewedasacademicmisconduct(cheating)soitisimportanttocite referencescorrectly.
