Viewed collectively, the videos capture the current experience of life at Dewey Square, the current mood of the individuals involved in the occupation, and the strong spirit of collaboration and belief in their cause that is keeping the occupation together. I want my children to be able to live in this country, said Nancy, a protester, while giving her reasons for joining in the occupation, and have jobs, and have some sort of reasonable environment. I do have a job and I have been fortunate, says David Ruben another protester, but I have heard many stories from my friends and acquaintances that it's very difficult for them. Occupy Boston is an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street rally. Occupy Wall Street is a people powered movement for democracy that began in America on September 17 with an encampment in the financial district of New York City. Inspired by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, The movement has vowed to end the monied corruption of American democracy. At present count there are countless Occupy rallies being held in cities from Boston to Houston. Occupy Boston was started on September 30, when a group of protestors gathered in Dewey Square. Today, Occupy Boston has taken over Dewey Square, its participant numbers having swelled to many thousands.
