LESSON PLAN

School: Colegiul Tehnic Vadu Crisului Teacher : Crciun Tnde Date : 20th May Form : 6th ( VI B ) Topic : Stories Lesson title: Goldilocks and the three bears Time of lesson : 50 minutes Textbook : Optional Course Telling Stories Skills involved : speaking, reading, writing, listening Lesson aims : - to read a familiar story - to enable Ss to order a familiar story - to check Ss understanding of the reading text Didactic strategies: methods and procedures: conversation, dialogues, identifying/naming things, ordering events , role play; materials and equipment: textbook, pictures which illustrate the story characters and various vocabulary items, worksheets, flip chart, online version of Goldilocks and the three bears (Internet); organization: class work, group work, individual work;

Procedure Activity 1 Checking the homework Timing : 4 min. , Interaction : T-Ss , Aim: - to check Ss previous knowledge Ss were supposed to write a diary entry from the point of view of Hansel or Gretel about their impressions on being prisoners in the witchs house. T checks the homework and corrects the mistakes (if necessary). Activity 2 Lead-in - Teaching the new vocabulary Timing: 5 min., Interaction: T-Ss Aims: - to focus students attention on the new lesson - to motivate students for the new lesson - to introduce vocabulary referring to the story T introduces the new topic by means of pictures (representing Goldilocks, Daddy Bear , Mummy Bear , Baby Bear ) from the story. Ss have to guess the title. T gives each S a picture representing one of the story characters. Each S is supposed to find his/her classmates who have a card with the same character. This is a way to organize the class in groups (Goldilocks group, Daddy Bear group, Mummy Bear group and Baby Bear group) of three Ss according to the story characters. Divided like this, Ss will work throughout the whole class. 1

This is also a good way to revise some words that Ss are already familiar with and to introduce new vocabulary (locks, bowl, porridge ). Activity 3 Pre-reading activity Timing : 3 min. , Interaction T- Ss, Aim: - to get Ss predict the content of the story T invites individuals from each group to try to predict what the story is about using the words that they have just revised or learned. Activity 4Reading activity Timing: 5 min. , Interaction : T-Ss Aim: - to visualize and listen to the story Ss watch the online version of the story and check if their predictions were right . Activity 5 Reading activity Timing :5 min., Interaction : T-Ss Aim: - to give Ss practice in reading aloud in a collaborative way - to foster active listening and role reading T points out individuals from different groups to role read the story as a group as seamlessly and fluidly as possible. Activity 6 Post reading activity Timing :15 min., Interaction : T-Ss, S-S Aim: - to familiarize Ss with the reading text -to get Ss order the story -to develop sequencing skills Ss are given a worksheet containing pictures from the story representing the key moments of the story and for each picture there is a caption that should be matched with the right picture. Activity 7 Wanted poster activity Timing :5 min., Interaction : T-Ss Aim: - to encourage Ss to practice writing related to the story in a meaningful context Ss draw a poster describing Goldilocks , missing after she runs away from the bears house. Activity 8Whistling story activity Timing :3 min., Interaction : T-Ss Aim: - to check the Ss comprehension of the text - to encourage Ss to concentrate and listen attentively to the story - to build up Ss ability to recall and retell a short story The main aim of this activity is to give feedback. Ss retell the story but, instead of saying key vocabulary , whistle and Ss supply the missing words.

Activity 9 Goldilocks song Timing :3 min., Interaction : T-Ss Aim: - to listen to a story related song Ss listen to a song : When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears Activity10 - Issuing homework Timing -2 min. Ss have to write a letter from the point of view of one of the story characters , a letter from Baby Bear to Goldilocks inviting her to come and play at his house. Dismiss pupils T marks pupils with grades or just makes remarks about their activity.
