THE TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH
O God, my faithful God, You have given me many gifts, gifts from Your creation to sustain me in this life and the gifts of redemption and sanctification which receive the greater gifts of forgiveness and eternal life. Grant that in faith, I seek to show forth Your love to others and that I use all of the gifts that You bestow upon me in service to You and my neighbor. I pray this in Jesus holy name. Amen

WELCOME
Welcome to Grace! The Psalmist in our Introit writes; Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In Your faithfulness answer me. Certainly as we gather this morning we do so knowing that the Lord, out of His great faithfulness, has had mercy upon us. We in turn respond with the Psalmist; Teach me to do your will, for You are my God! We are glad you are here today! If you are visiting with us we especially welcome you and we pray that your faith will be nurtured through Gods Word. If you have any questions about how you might become a communicant member of Grace, we encourage you to speak with our Pastor. We ask that everyone fill out an attendance card found at each pew and return it to an usher during the Offering. Children are welcome in our Service and we encourage their participation. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.

HOLY COMMUNION
Holy Communion will be celebrated in the 8:15 Service today. In this sacrament we receive Christs very body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace are asked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might be established. Thank you for honoring this request.

AS WE GATHER
As the Church Year nears it end we are reminded that there will be an end to all things as we know them. The Scriptures teach and we confess that our Lord Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead. As His disciples we truly want to hear His words in that day, Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. Indeed we are called to be faithful, because He who has promised us is faithful. Our Lord has given us His gifts and we are to rejoice in them and use them in service to Him and our neighbor as our sanctified response of discipleship and thanksgiving. The Holy Spirit uses the Gospel to empower us to live as faithful servants.

NEXT WEEKS READINGS - The appointed readings for next Sunday, November 20th, the Last Sunday of the Church Year, are: The Old Testament Reading: Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24, The Epistle Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:20-28, and The Gospel Reading: Matthew 25:31-46.

we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. P If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination.

P Enter not into judgment with your servant, C for no one living is righteous before you. P I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; C I ponder the work of your hands. Holy Gospel
P The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the twenty-fifth chapter.

Matthew 25:1430

The reading of the Holy Gospel. P This is the Gospel of the Lord.

God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life T of the world to come. Amen

Prayer of Thanksgiving
P Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant joy we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His blood on the cross. Gathered in the name and the remembrance of Jesus, we beg You, O Lord, to forgive, renew, and strengthen us with Your Word and Spirit. Grant us faithfully to eat His body and drink His blood as He bids us do in His own testament. Gather us together, we pray, from the ends of the earth to celebrate with all the faithful the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Graciously receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone, O Father, be all glory, honor, and worship, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C Amen

Proper Preface
P It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who, having created all things, took on human flesh and was born of the virgin Mary. For our sake He died on the cross and rose from the dead to put an end to death, thus fulfilling Your will and gaining for You a holy people. Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and saying:

The Words of Our Lord

Matthew 26:2628; Mark 14:2224; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:2325

P Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: Take, eat; this is My T body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me. In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My T blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.

1 Corinthians 11:26; Revelation 22:20

P As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lords death until He comes. C Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. P O Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, in giving us Your body and blood to eat and to drink, You lead us to remember and confess Your holy cross and passion, Your blessed death, Your rest in the tomb, Your resurrection from the dead, Your ascension into heaven, and Your coming for the final judgment. So remember us in Your kingdom and teach us to pray:
