MOTORCYCLE RACE SERIES FOR THE YEAR 2010


Competitive Racing for both two and four stroke machines. What bike can enter? 375cc - 400cc, 4 Stroke, 4 cylinder maximum. & 230cc - 250cc, 2 stroke, 2 cylinder maximum.
The 2010 Series will take place at all Kirkcaldy & District Motor Club Meetings (dates listed below) with a prize fund decided over the two legs. Each leg counts towards the final Series standings. (Prize fund for each meeting subject to the amount of entries ) Date of events: 4th April. 2nd May. 14/15th Aug 29th Aug. 3rd October.

Points will be awarded as follows per leg:

FORMULA 400 RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR 2010


To comply with Formula 400 rules machines must be standard production models. Formula machines must be standard catalogue production models, sold for everyday road use and completely equipped with full lighting equipment. The engine must be raced on normal fuel obtained from public petrol stations. These regulations have been designed with the following intent.

Appearance as close to production as possible. Allow freedom to tuner, yet provide cost limiting factors. Provide a racing class with machines available in adequate quantities through normal commercial channels. Provide interest for after market suppliers. Maintain speed and horsepower at safe levels.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS MUST NOT BE ALTERED FROM THE STANDARD PRODUCTION MOTORCYCLE:
01: Type of Engine. 02: Number of cylinders. 03: Stroke.

04: The cylinders, the cylinder head, the crankcase and the gearbox shell. The cylinder may be repaired by sleeving or lining within the limits of the class capacity. (For motorcycles manufactured be fore 31/12/95, manufacturers oversize is permitted (Original material type must be retained. 05: Type of clutch. (wet or dry). 06: Position of the cylinders and heads relative to the crankcase. 07: True-fuel injection, where fuel is injected directly into the combustion chambers, is not permitted. Manifold type fuel injection is allowed provided it is the production unit supplied on the standard production model. 08: Fuel tank. As manufactured on the Homologated machine 09: Frame (from steering head to seat support at rear), and its construction material. 11: Front forks (excluding internals), rear swing arm and linkage must be as the standard production motorcycle. 12: Brake master cylinders, callipers and discs must remain as homologated size. 13: Tyres: Any moulded treaded tyre including wets No extra grooves or sipes may be cut into tyres. 15: Wheels may be changed for aftermarket manufacture but must be of the original size for the model . The following items may be altered from the standard production motorcycle: 1: The bore may be increased without changing the pattern of the cylinder provided this increase does not exceed the limits of the class. 2: Moving internal engine, gearbox and clutch parts may be modified or replaced. 3: Internal gear ratios and final drive ratios may be changed. 4: Exhaust pipes and mufflers. 5: Footrests, rear brake lever and gear lever may be relocated and replaced with after market parts. 6: Any type of handlebar may be used. 7: Front suspension springs and damping parts may be changed. 8: Rear suspension damper units may be changed. 9: Fuel lines including fuel valves may be changed. 10: The original oil cooler and radiator may be changed or additional units added, provided it does not alter the machine in profile. 11: Materials of streamlining, fairing, rear seat hump and tailpiece may be altered, 12: Seat pad may be modified or replaced. 13: Steering dampers may be fitted. The damper must not act in any way as a steering lock limiting device. Metal steering stops must be added to the frame if the existing stops are inadequate. 14: Clutch friction materials, brake friction parts, brake hoses and brake couplings may be altered. 15: Chains - any size or brand may be fitted. 16: The sizes of carburettor jets, throttle valves and needles (not the butterfly) may be altered. Carb bodies must remain as homologated The following items must be altered if the standard production motorcycle does not comply. 1: Machines must be equipped with a functional ignition kill switch or button on the handlebar (within reach with the hands still on the grips) that is capable of stopping a running engine. 2: Safety bars, centre and side stands must be removed (fixed brackets may remain). 3: All drain plugs must be lock wired. External oil filters, screws and bolts that enter an oil cavity must be safety wired. 4: Where breather or overflow pipes are fitted they must discharge via existing outlets in accordance with ACU regulation The original closed system must be retained, no direct atmospheric emission is permitted. 5: Headlamp, rear lamp and turn indicators must be removed. 6: Each machine entered must have the correct Transponder fitted (Tran x 260) 7: A Suitable Toe Guard must be in place Anything not mentioned above, must remain as the standard production motorcycle unless stated in ACU standing regulations. The KDMC executive will be the final judge of fact in event of protest or appeal. Any rider found by the series organiser to be in contravention of the above rules will be excluded from the Results and may be excluded from participating in the series at further events. End of Season Prize fund Paid by Cupar Motorcycles and presented at the KDMC Annual Dinner Dance and presentation of awards.
