i am a hard worker with a strong will to do my best in whatever i try. i am very empathetic
and this gives me a better idea of the world from my client’s point of view. i am a quick
learner and adjust easily to new situations. i get along well with people and will work to help
my clients make more informed decisions and discover who they are and what they want to
make of their life. i was supervised by tommy estis, lpc of rayville, louisiana and received my
license in september 2006.

i have many hobbies alongside my counseling interests. i have enjoyed astronomy and
stargazing since i was a young boy looking through a telescope out in the country. i began
writing poetry in junior high school and have been published several times. music has always
been a passion of mine. i listen to almost all kinds of music from many different eras. during
high school, i began to learn to play the guitar and write songs. i have played at various
student and private functions and have enjoyed the immense friendships that come with being
a member of a musical group. photography continues to be a rewarding pastime. i am a
member of praise fellowship church in baskin, la, and play guitar in the praise band. i enjoy
reading the bible and learning more of what it means to follow jesus christ.

fall 2006 – current program therapist and case manager, allegiance inspirations intensive
outpatient program
i have continued my counseling career after licensure by focusing on the geriatric population
at an outpatient clinic. patients are voluntary and group topics include issues common to
elderly citizens, as well as mankind. patients typically present with symptoms related to
depression, anxiety, anger, grief, and various adjustment difficulties. occasionally other
disorders, such as schizophrenia, are present. individual sessions are welcome, but are on an
as-needed or requested basis. case management duties include but are not limited to: building
treatment plans, patient/family education, communication with the patient’s psychiatrist, and
communication and progress notes to the patient’s nursing home.

fall 2002 – fall 2006 group facilitator and case manager, christian acres boys home and
satellite group homes: briar hill, magnolia ridge, and evangeline oaks
my first position after graduation, i had the opportunity to lead counseling groups of young
boys and young girls on various issues, such as substance abuse, grief, family concerns, anger
management, and behavior modification. i also operated as a case manager, handling the
personal affairs of several residents. this included individual counseling, independent living
skills training, family counseling, career exploration, and mentoring.

i completed my student internship in the community counseling center at the university of
louisiana at monroe. i saw clients from wide socioeconomic and age ranges. i also aided
beginning student counselors in building treatment plans.
spring 2002 – summer 2002 counselor intern, granberry counseling center
i continued my student internship with the granberry counseling center located on the campus
of the louisiana baptist children’s home. i operated out of the satellite location in the epps
baptist church, serving the local population regarding various mental health issues.

i began my student internship at the center for academic and student success learning resource
center at the university of louisiana at monroe. my main function there was as a career
counselor. i worked with many kinds of students to help them clarify their interests, abilities,
values, and goals in life.

fall 2000 - spring 2002 lab attendant, ulm computer science lab
my graduate assistantship, which paid for a great deal of my schooling, was located in the
computer science lab at the university of louisiana at monroe. there i was able to further my
skills on the computer and also help many students in various fields with issues as they came
to complete their assignments.
