MOTOR VEHICLE POLICY

Sharps have a sizeable motor vehicle fleet and it is important that vehicle operations are managed with a viewpoint of consistent fleet management and cost minimization. Conditions of Use:o o o o Vehicles remain the property of Sharps Heavy Equipment Repairs at all times and conditions of use may be varied if deemed necessary by management; Vehicles used are the responsibility of the designated person at all times. Drivers must hold a current, valid and appropriate Drivers Licence for their particular vehicle; Vehicles are issued on the provision that drivers adhere to rules and regulations governing roads they are driving on, including all publicly owned roads, privately owned roads and leased properties and sites; The only costs to be charged to vehicles are for the purchase of fuel and oil; It is the responsibility of the driver or individual who has been issued the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition through ongoing inspections. Any item requiring maintenance should be communicated to your supervisor as soon as practical. The vehicle is not to be driven in an unroadworthy state; Any vehicle damage as a result of traffic accident or any other shall be reported to your supervisor as soon as practical; All traffic/road rule infringement fines are the sole responsibility of the person to whom the vehicle has been designated; Any damage to the vehicle or that of a third party, or injuries to the driver, passenger or any other third parties will remain the responsibility of the driver in control of the vehicle if found to be over the legal alcohol limit of .05%; During personal use of the vehicle and in the event of an accident occurring, the responsible person to whom the vehicle was issued shall be responsible for the lesser amount of either the excess payable or repairs to vehicles damaged in the accident if the driver of the company vehicle is found to be at fault; All reasonable efforts must be made to protect the vehicle and its contents. In the event of employee misuse and/or neglect the employee shall be responsible for damages incurred; The person to whom the vehicle was issued is responsible for knowing the vehicle GVM and loading it accordingly to comply with Main Roads specifications. Any personal vehicle use during days off, while off roster or during annual leave outside of the Mackay District with boundaries extending north to Calen, south to Sarina or west to Eton must have prior approval from Management. Failure to attain approval will be a serious breach of employment conditions and may result in the vehicle being reported stolen to Police if location is unknown; All personal vehicle use in the Dalby and Hunter Valley regions will be subject to approval from the Division Manager.
