THE INDIAN SCHOOL AL GHUBRA GAMES AND SPORTS ANNUAL REPORTS- 2008-2009 Our four cricketers Mohit Khimji(Captain),

, Abhinav Manikandan, Vatsal Mehta and Nikhil Xavier are selected to represent Omans combined school cricket team to play against Cricket Willows Club, New Zealand to be held on 9th and 10th April at P.D.O. ground. Vatsal Mehta did not join the team as he was out of country at that time.

Our 6 swimmer participated in the Oman Swimming Association organized Beach Swimming competition on 3rd April at Qantab beach. Poorva Deshmukh won the silver medal and R.O. 20/ in this competition.

Our Athletes participated in the Indian Social Club organized Track and Field events held on April 24th at Al Bustan Club ground. Our athlete won the 6 gold medals 2 silver and 5 bronze medals. Our School got the CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY in this competition.

C.B.S.E. OMAN CLUSTER BADMINTON TOURNAMENT Our school has organized CBSE Cluster Badminton tournament on 16th and 17th August in our school auditorium. Total 6 Indian Schools from Sultanate of Oman participated in this tournament. Our team won the under 14 and 19 years category in boys section and under 16 and 19 years category in girls section. Our principal Mrs. Papri Ghosh welcome the teams and declare the tournament open and at the end gave away the certificate and medals to the winners and runners up teams and participation certificates to all the participants. Our girls basketball team participated in the CBSE cluster level tournament organized by the Indian school, Muscat from 6th September to 9th September. Our team got the runners up position.

* Our boys basketball team participated in the CBSE cluster level tournament organized by the Indian School, Muscat from 6 to 9 September.

* Our swimming team participated in the CBSE Zonal level competition held at Indian School, AbuDhabi from 7th to 9th October. Total 21 boys and girls from our school participated. Our school won the 15 gold 22 silver and 4 bronze medals in the competition. Siddhart Vaz and Purva Deshmukh won 5 gold each in their individual events.

We have our Annual Aquatic Meet on 13th November at Sultan Qaboos Swimming complex. Total 40 boys and 37 girls participated in this competition. Mr. Qais Al Zakhwani , General Secretary of Oman Swimming Association was the guest of honour for the Meet.

Our school participated in the CBSE National Level Swimming competition held at Vadodra from 1st to 4th November. Purva Deshmukh won the Silver and Bronze medals and under 14 years girls Relay team got the Bronze medals.

Our school participated in the CBSE Zonal Level Badminton tournament held at Bahrain from 11th to 14th November. Our under 16 and 19 years girls won the championship and under 19 year boys team got the Runners Up position. Our school won the Girls championship and overall championship in this tournament.

Our school participated in the CBSE Cluster Tennis Tournament organized by the Indian School Muscat on 21st October. Our under 14 boys and girls teams were Runners Up in the tournament.

11th PDORC Biathlon Results for Aalap who placed second for consecutive second time in Individual Junior (IJ) category held on 30th October 2008. Aalap took part as Individual Junior (IJ) in this event and finished 2nd place in his category. He was only indian (ISG student) took part in this event.

* Our school participated in the CBSE cluster level Athletic competition held at Indian school Muscat on 30th and 31st October. Our school got 3 gold 9 silver and 4 bronze medals in the competition.

* Our student Nikhil Xavier represented Oman Cricket Club in the I C C Cricket tournament organized by the A C C at Thailand from 17th November to 21st November.

* Our school participated in the CBSE zonal level Chess competition held at Sharjah on 21st and 22nd November. Our under 14 year boys won the championship. * Our under 14 year chess team participated in the CBSE National level competition held at Nagpur from 11th to 14th December.

* We have our Annual Athletic Tracks events held on 20th Nov. at Royal Hospitals club ground. Mr. Hameed, member of the school management committee was the guest of honour who declare the Meet open. We had our closing ceremony, March past, P T disply for Annual Sports Meet on 30th November at School field Dr. Mansoor Sultan Al Tauqi was the guest of honour for the Meet.

* Our school boys 4x100 mts relay team participated in the Inter School relay competition organized by the Indian School Wadi Kabir on 4th December. Our boys won the gold medal in the competition. * Our Badminton team participated in the CBSE National level tournament held at Nagpur from 11th to 14th December. Our under 19 boys team played well.

* Winter coaching camp in Badminton, Table Tennis and in Swimming conducted from 8th December to 30th December 2008.

* Our 8 girls represented Oman Cricket Club in the I C C tournament organized by A C C at Bangkok from 13th December to 23rd December. Our students Maithily Mudhusudanan was a captain and Kruti Toprani was a vice captain of the team.

* Our school organized Seven A Side Football Invitational Inter School Tournament on 4th Feb. at our school ground. Vice Principal and Manager Adm. Inaugurated the tournament and Dr. Mario, member of the school management committee and chairman of sports and games committee was the guest of honour who gave away the medals and trophies to the winners and runners up teams.

Sports Fiesta- 2009 organized by the Board of Directors to the Indian Schools in Oman held on 12th and 13th February, 2009 at different venue and different games. Indian school, Al Ghubra was chosen for the inauguration for the tournament. Dr. Mohamed Ali, vice chairman, Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company S O A Z was the guest of honour. Indian school, Al Ghubra organized Football tournament on its ground. All the Indian Schools in Oman participated in this tournament. Dr. Ragini Vaishnav and members of the board of directors were present at the inaugural function.

Annual Sports Meet for K G was held on 17th Feb. Mrs.Nisham Rayees was the guest of honour. Tiny tots of K G performed colourful P T display and had fun races. At the end Mrs. Nisham gave the medals and certificates to the winners.

Our Pre Primary had its Annual Sports Meet on 18th Feb. Mrs. Jayanti Venkatraghavan was the guest of honour. Students presented colourful P T display and participated in fun races. At the end chief guest gave away the medals and certificates to the winners.

Our under 15 years boys cricket team won the championship in the Oman Cricket Club organized Inter School tournament for 2008-2009.
