This is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who art thou?" And he confessed, and denied not, and said plainly: "I am not the Christ." And they asked him, "What art thou then? Art thou Elias?" And he said, "I am not." "Art thou the prophet?" And he answered, "No." Then said they unto him, "What art thou, that we may give an answer unto them that sent us? What sayest thou of thyself?" And he said, "I am the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness: 'Make straight the way of the Lord!'" John 1:19-23

THE PRAYER RESPONSE...Hear Our Prayer, O Lord... No. 306

Holy One, We take delight in beauty that surrounds us in this place. We welcome the familiar scriptures and songs of Advent. Help us prevent holiday stress as we open our being to you through scripture, prayer and song. May our worship honor you and bring us a sense of your peace. We pray as Jesus taught us to pray for your kingdom saying, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. *THE KYRIE... No. 300 Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT CANDLE......Gary and Terry Varnell

Hear our prayer, O Lord, hear our prayer, O Lord, incline thine ear to us, and grant us thy peace. Amen.
