Admission Criteria

Admission to the Programme is based entirely on merit. The basic policy of the Admissions Committee of the Suleman Dawood School of Business is to select those men and women whose intellectual capacity, managerial potential and personal characteristics best qualify them to pursue careers in management. Applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:

A minimum of sixteen years of education resulting in a Masters or Bachelors (Honors) degree from an HEC (Higher Education Commission) recognized Institute*. Entrance Test (GMAT or LMAT)** Work experience (preferred but not compulsory) Two letters of Recommendation Interview performance

* Candidates holding only a bachelors degree of less than four years duration will be required to produce an Higher Education Commission equivalence certificate of completion of 16 years of education. ** The LMAT will be valid for two years There are no age restrictions The Admissions Office will first review the applications to ensure that candidates meet the above requirements. After the review, the Admissions Committee will shortlist the candidates for interviews. The final decision will be taken after the interview. Entrance Test Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Graduate Management Admission Test is offered as a computer adaptive test worldwide. Apart from official test scores that LUMS will require directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS) USA, applicants must submit or mail a copy of the unofficial GMAT scores as soon as they take the test. The LUMS code for receiving GMAT scores from ETS is 0679. The deadline for GMAT for LUMS MBA Admissions is January 28, 2012 for Round I, March 03, 2012 for Round II and Round III. GMAT taken more than five years before the admission deadline will not be considered valid. You may obtain detailed information on the test from the GMAT bulletin available at the American Centres or visit www.mba.com A valid passport is required to take GMAT. National Identity Card or any other form of identification is not accepted. OR

LUMS Management Admission Test (LMAT)

LMAT is offered as an internal test of LUMS. Applicants have the option to take either GMAT or LMAT. Both tests carry equal weight age for MBA Admissions. LMAT taken more than two years before the admission deadline will not be considered valid. The written part of the test is designed to assess the applicant's ability to think logically about a specific issue, reading and comprehension caliber, and capability to formulate ideas and communicate them effectively in English. The numerical portion of the test is designed to assess the quantitative skills of the applicants. LMAT will be conducted simultaneously in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. Note: Taking the entrance test is not the same as applying for admission. You need to submit the application for admission separately. Work Experience Preference is given to applicants with prior work experience. This experience demonstrates the applicants managerial potential and intellectual maturity. Evaluation is based on the quantity and quality of the full-time work experience, and candidates are encouraged to acquire work experience of between 12 years before applying to the LUMS MBA Programme. This requirement, however, is not mandatory for admission to the MBA Programme. Candidates having an exceptional academic track record complemented by a very high GMAT/LMAT score, with the experience of a few internships, are also considered for admission. Interview Performance A merit for interview short listing is established on academic ranking, work experience (if any) and test score performance of the candidates. Those who qualify this comparative ranking are called for interview. The interview is a key indicator of the potential of MBA candidates to become worthy professional managers. During the interview, the Admissions Committee assesses the applicant's communication skills, managerial potential, thinking ability, subject knowledge and level of awareness of general issues. The final decision regarding admission will be taken after the interview.
