===================================== 1. Minimum / Recommended System Specs ===================================== Minimum PC Specifications: CPU: Pentium III 500MHz processor (or equivalent) RAM: 128MB Video: 32MB supported Direct3D video card HD: 150MB of free space Controller: Keyboard Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Recommended PC Specifications: CPU: Pentium III 800MHz processor (or equivalent) RAM: 128MB+ Video: 64MB+ supported Direct3D video card Controller: Windows supported gamepad, Windows supported steering wheel device, Keyboard. Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP with Media Player 9 installed. DirectX 8.1b: FORD RACING 2 requires DirectX 8.1b. If you do not have this installed, FORD RA CING 2 will prompt you to install it at the beginning of the installation proced ure. After DirectX has installed you will be asked to reboot your PC, after thi s, continue with the installation instructions below. ========================================== 2. Installing / Uninstalling FORD RACING 2 ========================================== - Installing FORD RACING 2" Note: These instructions assume your PC is switched on and you are running Micro soft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP 1. Please insert your FORD RACING 2 Disc into your CD-ROM Drive. The game should autorun and present you with the message: "Do you wish to install FORD RACING 2 ?". Select "Yes" to install. If the autorun message does not appear proceed to step 2, otherwise skip to step 3. 2. Click on the Windows taskbar "Start" button and select "Run..." followed by t

he "Browse..." button. Select your CD-ROM drive using the down arrow and click o n the "SETUP.EXE" file followed by "Open", and then "OK". 3. Click "Next" when prompted. Please read through the software license agreeme nt. Accept the terms of the agreement and click "Yes" to proceed. If you do not accept the terms, installation will be terminated and you will not be able to pl ay the game. 4. Now select the destination directory where you want this product to be instal led into. You can use the "Browse" button to change to a different destination d irectory. Click on the "Next" button when you are happy with your selection. 5. Installation will now commence automatically. 6. Please read through the software license agreement for "Windows Media Format 7.1". Accept the terms of the agreement and click "Yes" to proceed. If you do no t accept the terms, installation will be terminated and you will not be able to play the game. 7. Installation of "Windows Media Format 7.1" will now commence automatically. 8. Click "Finish" to end the installation. - Uninstalling "FORD RACING 2" If you wish to uninstall FORD RACING 2 from your computer, you can do this using one of the methods below. a. Click on the Windows taskbar "Start" button and select the FORD RACING 2 fold er (typically "Empire Interactive/Ford Racing 2"). Then highlight and select "U ninstall FORD RACING 2". Select "OK" to proceed and then follow the instruction s to uninstall FORD RACING 2. b. Click on the Windows taskbar "Start" button, "Settings", "Control Panel", "Ad d/Remove Programs". Look for "FORD RACING 2" and click on it. The "Add/Remove" b utton will be highlighted, please click on it and follow the on-screen instructi ons. ============================== 3. Setting Up "Ford Racing 2" ============================== After you install "Ford Racing 2", you will be presented with the configuration program. This program allows you to adjust various in game settings to ensure "F ord Racing 2" performs at its optimum level on your PC. Note: You can also run the configuration program at any time. To do this click o n the Windows taskbar "Start" button and then select the "Ford Racing 2" folder (typically "Empire Interactive / Ford Racing 2"). Then highlight and select "Gam e Configuration". Display Tab Display Adapter - Select your 3d Graphics card. This will default to the best de vice found (and in most cases does not need adjustment). Resolution - Set the in-game screen resolution (only resolutions that your PC's 3D graphics card support will be displayed). Audio Tab

Sound Device - Select your sound device Enable Sound - To disable all sound output, deselect this option. Detail level Tab Dynamic Shadows - Enable / Disable dynamic shadows. Environment mapping - Enable / Disable environment mapping. Depth of Field - Enable / Disable depth of field effects. Heat haze - Enable / Disable Heat haze effects. Model Detail - Sets the detail level of all 3d objects in game Visual Range - Sets the draw distance. Language Selection Tab Select the language you wish to run "Ford Racing 2" in. Run Game - Run "Ford Racing 2" with the present settings. Ok - Save the present settings, and exit the configuration program. ============================== 4. Graphics Card Compatibility ============================== The following graphics cards/chipsets are NOT supported: - ST Kyro II chipset cards - SiS 730S chipset cards Known Issues / Workarounds: - If you are using a "Jaton 3dforce" based graphics card (or similar) you may ex perience minor graphical errors. To fix this, turn off the "Dynamic Shadows" op tion in the configuration program. ===================== 5. Performance Issues ===================== - If you experience poor frame rates, you may want to try some of the following steps: Turn off 'Environment Mapping' (under the "Detail Level" tab), turning this opti on off will provide the greatest speed increase. Switch all video settings (under the "Detail Level" tab) to lower settings. Turn the Rear View Mirror and Map "OFF" from within the Display Options in-game to improve frame rate. Lower the resolution the game runs in. Higher resolutions should only be used o n high-end systems. On older less powerful machines it is also suggested that y ou choose a 16bit resolution (i.e. "800x600x16"). NOTE: Always ensure you have the very latest drivers installed for your graphics

card and operating system. - If you are using Windows 2000, please ensure you have at least Service Pack 1 installed. This can be downloaded from: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/default.asp NOTE: This link may change, so if it does not work, just search www.microsoft.co m for Windows 2000 Service Pack download. If you have not got Service Pack 1 or later installed you may experience perform ance problems. ================== 6. Troubleshooting ================== If the introduction animation is missing from the start of Ford Racing 2, you ma y need to upgrade to Windows Media Player 9. If the game crashes after you select your Profile (before you reach the Main Men u) then you will need to install Media Player 9.
