Technical Specification for Air conditioners
%he Energy Services Division intends to invite quotations Ior the supply and installation oI six
air conditioners to be installed at diIIerent locations:

eneral Notes
1. ll air conditioners shall be equipped with cordless remote control by means oI which the air
conditioner may be switched on and oII, the temperature and Ian speed may be controlled and
Irom which one may read the room/oIIice temperature via an LCD.
2. ny supports, mounting brackets etc..(to be dipped galvanized) shall be supplied and installed by
the successIul bidder, who is requested to visit the site to assess relevant inIormation Ior the
preparation oI his bid.
3. %he outdoor units shall be Iixed on hot dipped galvanized metal or concrete slab.
4. ny civil/masonry works (e.g drilling oI hole as access Ior pipes or ductwork, modiIications to
window panes/Irames/metal work as and iI deemed necessary associated with the installation oI
the air conditioner shall be undertaken by the bidder. ll openings shall be properly sealed to
avoid leakage oI cool air.
5. %he successIul bidder shall have to take the necessary precautions so as not to damage the
Ilooring, painted block-works during execution oI the works. Damage caused to materials/items
or services on site shall have to be made good Iree oI charge (including paintwork) to the
satisIaction oI the Engineer or his representative.
6. SuccessIul bidders shall have to make their own arrangements Ior ladder/scaIIoldings and any
other material required Ior the installations.
7. %he air conditioners shall be provided with a suitable drain pipe with suIIicient slope Ior perIect
drain. %he drain pipe shall be leak-prooI and shall be securely Iixed as and where necessary up to
50mm to soil level.
8. ll piping (reIrigerant and drain) shall be enclosed within white PVC trunking oI suitable
dimensions in-door and out-door. Note that the cover oI same shall be securely sealed by means
oI silicon rubber.
9. %he air conditioners shall be equipped with appropriate valves along the reIrigerant pipes so as to
allow isolating and separating the indoor Irom the outdoor unit without any loss oI reIrigerant.
Bidders are hereby requested to indicate clearly in their quotations whether or not the proposed
air conditioner will be equipped with the said valves or some other device which will achieve the
same Iunction.
10.ny opening shall be properly sealed in order to prevent leakage oI cool air and ingress oI rain
water especially during cyclonic periods.
11.Electrical works: electrical supply terminated to the existing DP control switch oI appropriate
rating shall be supplied and installed next to the air conditioner.
12.%he Bidder shall submit as part oI the contract upon completion oI works, two copies oI the
operations and maintenance manual inclusive oI an exploded diagram oI the air conditioning
plant showing the diIIerent parts and the associated part numbers.
13.%he Bidder shall test and commission the whole oI the works in the presence oI the Client and
the Engineer or his representative. During testing, the sound pressure level shall be measured.
%wo copies oI the test certiIicates shall be submitted together with the guarantee certiIicates.
Provisions shall be made by the bidder Ior the supply oI all test instruments.
14.%he commissioning oI the air conditioning installation works shall be deemed complete and
successIul only when all the above have been satisIied and completed.
