What is Evolution? Evolution is the diversification and modification of a species over a vast period of time.

Whether it be a species that existed 60 million years ago or even now. It is said that all living organisms descended for their species common ancestor and the process of change that each specie experienced would have been over an elongated period of time and over several generations. For evolution to occur, the organism must have gone through a series of mutations, genetic drift and/or natural selection. Mutation occurs when there is a change in the genomic sequence.
What is it? - all living organisms have descended from a common ancestor (or ancestral gene pool) - the process of change in all forms of life over generations - evolves by means of mutations, genetic drift and natural selection - accept evolution, as supported by scientific evidence - creationists base their views on religious beliefs Arguments/Evidence: - the early cells evolved into the millions of species of organisms we have now - process of evolution, mutation occurs radiation, chemicals, or a chance event - change is then either kept or removed by natural selection. - if organism survives, it passes its traits on to its offspring. - these changes accumulate in the population over - fossils - embryology - vestigial structures - homologous structures - bacteria's immunity to antibiotics How did it originate? - ancient greek philosophers such as Anaximander - hypothesized the development of life from non-life and the evolutionary descent of man from animal - Charles Darwin just simply bought something new to the old philosophy - Natural Selection - it preserves and accumulates minor advantageous genetic mutations - it is the preservations of a functional advantage that enables a species to compete better in the wild - like a naturalistic equivalent to domestic breeding - modern understanding of evolution began with the 1859 publication of Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species - Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago - Russian scientist, Alexander Oparin, hypothesized that simple organic molecules containing carbon formed. - energy from the sun, lightning and earths heat triggered chemical reactions produced the small organic molecules - molecules were then organised into complex organic molecules (eg proteins, carbohydrates and nucleic acids)

What is the Creation theory? The Creation theory is a religious belief that believes that the entire Universe and everything that habituates the Universe was created by an almighty, supernatural being. Contrary to popular belief, the Creation theory is not only associated with Judaism and Christianity but with a variety of religions.
