EXPERIENCE

Stryker Corporation (SMK) (May-August 2011) Kalamazoo, MI Worked as a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to monitor 37 suppliers for the metals commodity for the division Provided technical leadership to reduce the quality metric of DPM/PPM for the commodity by more than 50% by driving corrective actions throughout the supplier base in accordance with FDA regulations Increased communication between the production supervisors/managers with suppliers to decrease the rejections of compliant material leading to increased production quantity on the floor and better quality ratings of suppliers Coordinated with material handlers, design engineers, manufacturing engineers, advanced operations, business unit quality teams and the suppliers to get qualified material delivered in time for manufacturing and prevent line shutdowns
Residential Scale Alternative Energy (Spring-Fall 2009) Houghton, MI Led the multi-disciplinary team to design a vertical axis wind turbine grid tied to provide all electricity requirements for a house in Dollar Bay, MI (budget of $3000) Built prototype and tested in wind tunnel facility to determine the best design, different airfoils were researched while using data acquisition systems Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Pugh Analysis and FMEA were the major analysis tools to analyze the strength of harboring structure and the air flow around it

BASF Corporation (January-August 2008) Wyandotte, MI Conducted Finite Element Analysis, CAD on plastic parts for cars using ABAQUS Solver Accepted projects from major OEMs as design engineer Responsible for making conclusive presentations and suggesting improvements in design to reduce risk related to fracture and fatigue Analyzed different stress curves and total deflections in the plastic parts like oil pans, engine manifolds
M-SEAT Maintaining a Safe Environment (September 2010 May 2011) Ann Arbor, MI for Automotive Transportation (M-Heal) Lead the design time to optimize the structure based on various dynamic load cases Optimized manufactured seat for children 2 years and younger for use in developing countries using CAD and FEA in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety (FMVSS) 213 Safety seat for infants was manufactured in summer 10, Budget<$100; a second prototype was built in Winter/Spring 2011

ACHEIVEMENTS

ORGANIZATIONS

Physics Learning Center Coach (Fall 2007, Fall 2008, Spring 2009, Fall 2009) Houghton, MI Coached 8-10 students daily in various physics courses on one-on-one basis Responsible for making them understand basic and advanced concepts Improved communication skills through regular interaction with various major student and fellow coaches TCL Cables Ltd. (May-August 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010) New Delhi, India Worked on testing power cables for non conforming products on an individual basis o Copper, conductor, package testing Helped decreasing supply chain costs related to information loss and lack of communication Worked on improving on the bull-whip effect through a VUCA approach on an individual supplier basis Course Projects To support secondary use of used lithium ion batteries after their life in electric vehicles. The basis of this endeavor was to entrepreneurially innovate service to handle the mass amount of batteries after 8 years of use in electric vehicles. Environmentally sustainable financial model was the aim of the project with a special emphasis on the stakeholder mapping. Life cycle analysis of specialized concrete on facades involving titanium dioxide which is a self cleaning agent. Building upon research done to prove TiO2 improves energy efficiency by decreasing the water resources and diesel fuel used to wash/clean multistory building surfaces, by employing specific data from mega cities such as Los Angeles, Dubai and Hong Kong Critical review of various bio-fuel blends related papers with reference to the analysis of the brake thermal efficiency of the diesel engine operating on rapeseed oil and its various blends with ethanol, petrol and both additives applied simultaneously as well as tests results of many other researchers conducted on diesel fuel oxygenated up to 10 vol. % and more with ethanol to show that ethanol can be used to solve the mineral fuel shortage problems while improving fuel economy and reducing its harmful emissions Designed a mid-size sedan according to customer requirements based on structure strength employing the use of various finite element analysis methods. Mass estimation, numerical structure requirements, flow down of requirements, side frame FEA, torsion stiffness, stress analysis, mid rail structure design were looked in while keeping at least 4 star rating for the vehicle. PACE Engineering Design Competition held by GM and Siemens (Fall 2008) - Our team achieved the first position in the once a semester held competition - Created a design of an excavator in UG NX-5 containing 74 different parts Scholarship from the Ambassador Funds - Michigan Technological university AERO Design Team - Designed and competed in SAE AERO 2008. Constructed a remote controlled bi-plane Study Abroad program in Estonia - Learned about the culture and economic policies of Estonia related to politics and environment - Visited Helsinki, Finland and Riga, Latvia as well LEADERSHAPE - Spent a week with diverse students working on leadership skills in a secluded environment - Developed a vision for the world to thrive on Blueprint Magazine Creative magazine for engineers, North Campus - Founding member. Established the magazine featuring works from College of Engineering Teach for Indian UMich Chapter - Organize book drives and lead the publicity team Society of Business Engineers Active participation in business projects
