Please find our comments AND concerns regarding ur IPL new distillery tender. These Considerations r made to make ur plant operation most smooth and trouble-free, better quality product, lower operating cost and longer life of the upcoming plant, for 46 KLPD distillery. 1) Dist plant size will be undersized in order to produce goog quality ENA 45 KLPD. It shall be 47KLPD instead of 46 klpd.
2) Boiler and turbine capacities which are Vital major utilities, Given are just-

sufficient, for rated capacity & system mensioned. There is no scope to add and run any other allied system such as Condensate polishing unit (CPU) in future. The minimum capacity of these shall be 13TPH BOILER WITH 670KW TURBINE for Power Generation.
3) List of distillation columns given in the tender is sufficient to Produce the

Rectified Spirit & not to produce the ENA as u mensioned in ur Tender. (ED/PURIFIER column, & concentration column for all types of impurities, with all required equipments is not shown in the List. 4) Condensate polishing unit (CPU) for evaporation condensate & leese treatment installation, is advised. This is required to enable recycle these water streams again for cooling towers, and fermentation.
5) Size of RS/ENA and Ethanol shown in the tender is 2400kl and 2000kl, 1 no

each. It is advisable to break these capacities in two tanks for each product. This will enable us to prevent the mixing of lower quality product with good quality product. Also, the load bearing capacity of the soil in this area is less. Hence it is not advisable to make the single equipment of such a huge capacity, which may invite for costilier piling during the civil foundation work.
6) Distillery operation is considered as independent unit. Considering the

present availability of sugarcane & molasses in Bihar, distillery plant will hv to be shut-down continuously for 2-3 months. Bio gas plant bacterias will become inactive during this period. Every year it takes, practically at least 70 to 90 days to start the biogas plant again. No gas will be available to run the Bio-Gas Turbine during this period which will initiate the requirement of saperate full capacity(670kw) DG set. Also it is more practical & Techno economically proven system to generate the high pressure steam and run the back pressure Turbine to generate the power. 7) No details regarding the spentwash storage Thanks & Regards Pradeep D dhokare- Managing Director
