Sean Riccardi Captures NJState Masters Title

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ Sean Riccardi, the runner-up of the 2010 Masters Tournament, captured his first NJ State Masters title at the 30th New Jersey State Bowling Association Masters Tournament held at Brunswick Zone-Carolier in North Brunswick on December 10-11, 2011. Riccardi of of Piscataway, N.J., after qualifying fifth with an eight-game score of 1768 (Matthew OGrady of South Amboy, was the leading qualifier with an 1823), compiled a 6-0 match play record with a 218 tourney average. In the two-game match play finals he defeated Andrew Suscreba of Clifton, 387-356. Riccardi then defeated Tom Panebianco of Lakewood, 408407. Riccardi then went on to beat Ed Szygiel of Mt Laurel, 536-368. Continuing his winning streak, he then outdid the 2007 and 2009 Masters Champion Charlie Bruno of Deptford, 435-427, followed by Eric Cornog of Cherry Hill, 418-379, to gain entry to the Championship match and earn the honor to face Eric Cornog again, the survivor of the losers bracket.

David Smith Rolled 300-787 At Majestic Lanes


HOPELAWN, NJ - David Smith earned top honors in the Middlesex County Classic League at Majestic Lanes blasting games of 256-231-300 for a high series of 787. Eric Smyth Blasted 300 At Farmingdale Lanes


FARMINGDALE, NY - Eric Smyth topped the scoring in the Thursday 3-Man League at Farmingdale Lanes blasting perfect with a 300 then added games of 205 and 259 for a high series of 764. Cornog earned his way to the championship match going through the winners bracket defeating Walter McKnight of Brick, 413-322, Shawn Slocum of Ewing, 426-423, Louis Gaudio Jr of Staten Island, 366-364, and William Ripley of Burlington, 446-387, before meeting Sean Riccardi in the fifth match which sent him into the losers bracket, 379-418. Cornog then defeated Slocum again 421-412, to meet Riccardi in the Championship match. In the championship match, Riccardi reigned supreme when he met Eric Cornog, where Riccardi was the victor with a close 4-count win talling 426 to Cornogs 422. Honor scores bowled in the tournament were: 11-in-a-row games were rolled by Sean Riccardi, Andrew Suscreba and Antony Buonanno of Belleville. 156 participated in the tournament.

John Adams 300 At North Arlington Bowl


NO. ARLINGTON, NJ John Adams took the spotlight when he blasted a 300 game in the Sunday Morning Trios League at North Arlington Bowl. ESPN3 Will Simulcast USBC Masters, U.S. Open,


Tournament of Champions Finals
ESPN3 will simulcast the finals of the PBA Tours three remaining major championships, live online to a potential audience of nearly 70 million households.
The USBC Masters will be Sunday, Jan. 29 at 12:30 p.m. ET, the 69th U.S. Open, Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. ET, and the season-ending PBA Tournament of Champions will be on Sunday, April 15 at 1 p.m. ET and they will not only air in HD on ESPN, but will be available to online viewers who have high-speed Internet or video subscription from an affiliated provider. The programming also will be accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smart phones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and through ESPN on Xbox LIVE. Complete PBA coverage will also be available via WatchESPN online and on mobile and tablets devices for fans of an affiliated provider.

John Draney, Collette Malyack Sparkle in Holiday Classic


By Vincce Albrecht Elmwood Park, NJ Hackensack junior John Draney and DePaul senior Colette Malyack rose to the occasion in the 10th Annual Holiday Classic held at Parkway Lanes with respective threesomes of 664 and 630 respectively to lead the pack in the qualifying round. John spearheaded his squad into the Playoff Baker Format where Hackensack advanced to the semifinals before bowing out to Northern Highlands. Colettes mixed DePaul quintet defeated Lyndhurst to advance to the quarterfinals but fell to red-hot Ridgewood. In the Boys division, Northern Highlands rode the efforts of Nick Rossi, Josh Taylor and Billy Olszewski to a showdown with powerful Howell, but couldnt match the Rebels firepower and dropped the match, 3-0; pacing the victors were Frank Vitarelle 630 and Jake Kaplan 621. In the Girls division, Bergen Tech, one of the best teams in North Jersey, put a scare into defending champion Howell before succumbing to the Rebels, 3-1. It marked the fifth consecutive Holiday Team Classic title for Howell, which boasts a wealth of talented bowlers, led by Jamie and Shanna Kelly. Bergen Techs Lady Knights were buoyed by seniors Jesmarie Reyes and Crusader Classic champion Belle Estee Dante. Other boys high scores: Pascack Hills Bryan Kist 642, Pascack Valleys Joe Farinelli 640, Ridgewoods Zach Flicker 629, Westwoods Andrew Cirillo 618, Cliftons DeAndre Powell 616 and Ramapos Mike Carr 616. By Vince Albrecht Montvale, NJ - After struggling in his opening game, Boontons Patrick Teshima figured it out in a hurry, stringing ten strikes from the third frame in game two to finish with league high game of 280 in Stan Niemiec Youth Travel play at Montvale Lanes. The 15-year-old Montville sophomore raised his average to 183 by virtue of his 619 set, a personal best. His performance helped the Boonton foursome capture three of seven points from Fair Lawn, salvaging the finale thanks to his 190, Erik Kattermanns 189 and older brother Karls 182. Fair Lawn took the first two games as individual average leader Jaylin Floyd burned the maples with 263-644 with help from younger brother Justin 206 and 12-year-old Tyler Nappi 169. Rob Gilbert, Jr blazed his way to a season high 279,227-705 in leading Bowler City I to two of three from Bowler City IV. After a slow start, teammates Eric Grabusnik 203,206 and John Draney 232 answered the call for the victors who put together scratch scores of 820 and 833. BC IV had two above average games from Jenai Bacote, Kendra Chaiken and an above average third game from Arielle Wallace and Mariah McKelvey; Mariahs 140 was tops for her team. A gifted Holiday quartet tore up the plastics with a spectacular third game 942 scratch, completing a dominant three game sweep of Bowler City II. Ramapo senior Kevin Macchia posted 223-223-259: 705, Dillon Cilento 202-243, Nick Cilento 200-220 and Indian Hills senior Emily Ostapczuk 211-220. BC IIs 12-year-old Kyle Schellberg found the range with 248-606 and Nick Reyes added a 198. Rounding out match play, Montvale swept past Bowler City III behind Bobby McCarthy 233218: 617, Shannon Rossi 204-201, Matt Hauser 211 and 11-year-old Matt Russell 194.
