Installation -----------1: Unzip the file "C2k5 Field Editor.exe" and all the .bmp files into a director y of your choice. 2: Unzip the .xml files into your cricket 2005 root directory. This is the same directory as the "Cricket2005.exe" There should be 210 of these. If you currentl y have some .xml files that have previously been edited, choose "no" when you ar e prompted to overwrite. Instructions -----------1: Run the .exe file 2: If this is the first time you have run the field editor, you will immediately be prompted to enter the path of "Cricket2005.exe". Click on the "Cricket2005.e xe" and press <open>. The default path is (I believe) "C:\Program Files\EA Sport s\ Cricket 2005". A file called "c2k5path.ini" will be created in the directory where you have installed the field editor. This file contains the path of your C ricket2005.exe and MUST NOT BE ALTERED or the editor will not know where to stor e the fields. 3: OK, that's the boring bit over with. Now on with editing fields. 4: Select the field you wish to modify using the drop-down box at the top of the screen. Click <Load> and the fielders will appear on the field map on the left side of the screen. 5: To move a fielder, hold the left mouse button down on a fielder. Move the mou se, dragging the fielder to the position you want, and release the mouse. You wi ll be warned if you try and move the fielder outside the boundary, and the field er will be moved back to his last position. 5a: You can also alter the fielder's position by typing in the coordinates in th e text boxes on the right hand side of the screen 6: Pressing the <Zoom> button will enable a close-up of the area around the pitc h, allowing more accurate positioning of close fielders. Some of the pitches wil l show black rectangles. These are suggested positions based on the placement of some of the default field positions. These are by no-means "exact" positions yo u must use, but are there as a guide only.

7: Press the <Normal> button to return to the standard view. 8: Change between a slip fielder, close catcher and a regular outfielder by clic king on the drop-down boxes on the right-hand side. Note: The colour of the fiel der (blue, red, white) will not update until you click on another button or pict ure on the screen. 9: If you've made a cock up, pressing the <Undo> key will allow you to discard a ny changes and the previous field will be re-loaded. 10: When you are happy with your field, press <Save> and the field will be store d in the root directory of cricket 2005. Fire up the game and your new field wil l be present. 11: If you have found a field that you want to use as a template for further edi ting, pressing the <Export> button will allow you to save this field for later u se. You will be prompted for a folder and filename. 12: Any exported fields can be reloaded by pressing the <Import> button. Again, select the folder and file from the file selection screen. A file can be importe d into ANY field. 13: That's about all there is to it. NOTES ----1: When you press <Save> the following checks are carried out: a: Max of 2 men behind square on the leg side. b: Only 2 fielders outside the 1-day circle if the field is for a 1-day game a nd the type is "open". c: In a 1-day field, there is a maximum of 5 fielders on the leg side. (I didn 't know that rule existed but it is in the game. Shows how much attention I pay to the 1-day rules!) 2: The 1-day fields have been listed for "Off-spin" and "Leg-spin". In the game however, I believe there is one field for both. Altering one will automatically alter the other. (I had already coded the data structures for both before I fou nd this out and I haven't yet been bothered to alter it. Maybe in a future relea se!)
