- Answers to this paper must be written on the paper provided separately.
- You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes.
- This time is to be spent in reading the question paper.
- The time given at the head of this paper is the time allowed for writing the answers.
- All working, including rough work, must be clearly shown and must be done on the
same sheet as the rest of the answer. Omission of essential working will result in the
loss of marks.
- The intended marks for the questions or parts of question are given alongside the
questions.
- Geometrical figures to be constructed wherever applicable.
- For geometry, figures have to be copied to the answer script.

Question 1
a) Find the difference between the compound interest on Rs.8000 for 2 years at 10% p.a, when
payable yearly and half yearly. [3]
b) Madhuri paid Rs.1058.40 for a dress including sales tax quoted for Rs.980. Find the rate of
sales tax. Also calculate the new sale price if the list price increase by 10%. [3]
c) If 5cosA 12sinA = 0, find the value of (sin A + cosA) / (2cosA sinA) [4]

Question 2
a) A lady holds 1800, hundred rupee shares of a company that pays 15% dividend annually.
Calculate her annual dividend. If she had bought these shares at 40% premium, what
percentage returns would she have got on her investment? Give your answer to the nearest
integer. [3]

c) The distance covered by a car between two parts A and B, is 216km, and by train it is
208km. A car travels at a speed of x km/hr and the train travels at a speed which is 16km/hr
faster than the car. If the train takes 2hr less than the car, to reach town B, obtain an
equation in x and solve it to find the speed of the train. [4]
