Phase 2: IP Addressing
Now that the basic plan is in place, the team leader assigns the technician to develop a prototype for the new internetwork. Use the network address assigned along with the subnetting requirements, to subnet the network using VLSM. From the IP addressing scheme, assign IP addresses to the appropriate interfaces on all routers and computers in the internetwork. Use the diagram on the following page as a guide. There are some special requirements. 1. General a. Use VLSM and Classless routing b. You will need to configure EIGRP as your routing protocol i. You may configure RIPv2 temporarily for testing, then remove RIP and configure EIGRP 2. Boaz location a. Do NOT advertise the networks connected to the loopback interfaces in your routing updates b. You will have NO static routes on this router (including default routes) 3. Eva location a. This routers loopback 0 interface represents your connection to the Internet (default route) i. Propagate your default route through your routing updates b. It connects to the Center router through a serial port c. It connects to the Boaz router through an Ethernet port d. Use a single summary static route for the loopback networks on the Boaz router. 4. Center location a. The routers interface on this LAN will use the highest usable IP address in the subnet. b. Use a single summary static route for the loopback networks on the Boaz router. c. You will have NO other static routes on this router (including default routes) Obtain approval of this phase of development from the instructor before proceeding to Phase 3.

General Documentation:
o A complete narrative of the project should be typed using word processing software. Since the scenarios break up the entire task into pieces, take care to address each scenario task so that any layperson could understand that particular task. o There can be NO technical jargon in the narrative Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet program could be used to simply list the equipment and serial numbers. Cisco Network Designer (CND), Microsoft Visio, or any paint program could be used to draw the network.

Technical Documentation:
The technical documentation should include details of the network topology. Use CND, Visio, or any paint program to draw the network. Use the tables in the working copy of the case study as a reference, and enter all table information into a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel. The spreadsheet should include the following details: o IP addressing of all interfaces o DCE/DTE information o Router passwords o Interface descriptions o IP address ranges and gateway assignments for all subnetworks Document the use of a routing protocol. Router output from the following commands should be captured and placed into this documentation: Each output should be on a separate page. o o o o o o o show show show show show show show cdp neighbors ip route ip protocol ip interface version hosts startup-config
Accumulate all documentation and organize it into a 3 hole, report cover with fasteners. Include this document with your case study deliverables.
