This includes setting up the systems and operations of the news desk, managing the online team across all divisions, helping with the integration of news generation between the print product and online, and building an effective online content offering. Duration: November 2007 July 2010 After leaving full-time employment near the end of 2007, I worked as a freelancer and independent contractor. My work took me to the Middle East and Europe and has included writing, editing, subediting as well as a number of photojournalism projects.

My duties within this programme included writing reports and documenting various activities related to the on-going conflict in that region.

Position: Project manager and Editor Duration: February 2007 December 2007 Reference: on request Commissioned to set up a shelf magazine for Soul Candi, a Johannesburg based music label, distributor, producer and promoter. My job included managing the overall aspects of setting up the magazine, including budget, content, distribution, printing and possible partnerships.

Position: Editor Duration: May 2002 November 2007 Reference: on request Red24 produced geo-political analysis while focusing on the security aspects of the countries and regions in question. My job as editor included managing an editorial team, setting the standard of produced work, and ensuring the development of new avenues of content creation. My team had to ensure that we communicated the latest advice based on relevant information from media sources, humanitarian organisations, and consultants on the ground that includes journalists and military personnel.

The Big Issue and a small collection of consumer magazines. I covered the international World Summit on Sustainable Development from 26 August 4 September 2002. I also completed internships with the South African Press Association (SAPA) and the Citizen newspaper in 2001.
