Professional History
Developed The ERA of Intimacy Model premiering in Making Real Love HappenThe New ERA of Intimacy. Published 2004. Developed a number of theoretical working models including: (1) a structural model of the intrapersonal self, called The Self and The Adaptive Styles; (2) a model that outlines the patterns of nurturing, wounding, and healing in intimacy outlined in two charts called Stages of Relational Development, and Relationship Adaptation Pattern and Power Struggle Issues; and (3) a process called The ERA Process - a highly structured communicative process that promotes intimacy and personal growth and development. Collaborated with Harville Hendrix, Ph.D. in the development of the theory and practice of Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT) from1983-2001. Served on the Board of
Directors of the Institute for Imago Relationship Therapy (1992-1994).

The major part of 1994-1996 was spent in New York City writing the curriculum and training faculty, workshop presenters, and clinical practitioners in the Imago model. In addition to assisting Dr. Hendrix in the first trainings in Chicago and San Francisco, I traveled in Canada and throughout the United States training therapists and presenting Getting the Love You Want workshops. Fifty charter members including myself organized the international professional Association for Imago Relationship Therapists (AIRT) in September 1991. I served as president of AIRT from 1991 to 1995. Private practice as a psychologist since 1974 Twelve years as a university professor (North Texas State University [1968-70] and the University of Texas at Arlington [1970-80] which includes two years as Acting Chairman of the Education Department at UTA). Eight years as a high school teacher and guidance counselor (1959-1967)

New York City, New York. (This was supposed to be a continuing workshop for The Learning Annex but I cancelled further scheduled workshops because it was cost prohibitive for me.) In early 2001, I developed two nine-hour workshops: one for couples "Making Real Love Happen!" (first sponsored by Southlake Boulevard Church for the community of Southlake, Texas, on June 16, 2001)and the other for businesses "The New ERA in Communication" (first presented to the major home office staff of Care Affiliates, Inc., in Arlington, Texas, on July 17, 2001.) In addition, I have spoken to numerous non-professional groups on a regular basis including The Greenhouse, service leagues such as the Junior League groups, Parents without Partners (regional meetings), Rotary and Lions Clubs, Business and Professional Women groups, alumni groups, businesses, and church groups.
