DISEASE DESCRIPTION HISTORY

Chickenpox was first identified By the Persian scientist Muhammad ibn Zakariya ar-Razi (865925), known to the West as "Rhazes", who clearly distinguished it from smallpox and measles. Giovanni Filippo (15101580) of Palermo later provided a more detailed description of varicella (chickenpox).

GENERAL INFORMATION
We all know what chickenpox is. Usually is a child illness but not always. Chickenpox is a contagious disease caused by an infection with variolla zoster virus. It starts with vesicular skin rash that appear all over the pacients body and becomes itchy. Chickenpox spreads through air, when the man sneez or through direct contact with the person. Its likely that pacients should know that they must stay in quarantine between 1 to 3 weeks. This disease is usually having more then itchy skin. The problem man can have nousea, fever, headaches or even sore throat. Chickenpox is more dangerous for adults because of the complications that are involved. After a chickenpox infection, the virus remains dormant in the body's nerve tissues. The immune system keeps the virus at bay, but later in life, usually as an adult, it can be reactivated and cause a different form of the viral infection called shingles (scientifically known as herpes zoster).

PREVENTION
The spread of chickenpox can be prevented by isolating affected individuals. Contagion is by exposure to respiratory droplets, or direct contact with lesions, within a period lasting from three days prior to the onset of the rash, to four days after the onset of the rash. Also, like all enveloped viruses, VZV is sensitive to desiccation, heat and detergents. Therefore these viruses are relatively easy to kill. A varicella vaccine was first developed by Michiaki Takahashi in 1974 derived from the Oka strain. It has been available in the U.S. since 1995 to inoculate against the disease. Some countries require the varicella vaccination or an exemption before entering elementary school.

HISTORIES: Past medical history: The pacient hadnt suffered of a dangerous medical problem in the past. Surgical history: The pacient had no surgical interventions in his life. Medication history: Theres no medication that Mr. Cute had taken some medication in the last years. Family history: Lately there werent no health problems in the family. Social history: The illness could be taken from a collegue from school. PHYSICAL EXAM: The pacient on first exam ination presented only headaches and high fever. After two days of hospital care the boy presented on his body marks of skin rash. Then the blood test showed that he had an infection. The final diagnosis will appear after the examination of the fluid within the pacients vesicles. The pacients response to the medication is good. In 2 days he will get home.

A women with his child arrived at the hospital for an examination. The little boy have some health problems. They are entering the doctors office. Pacients mom: Good evening Doctor! Doctor: Good evening. I see we have a problem. Pd mom: That its true, my son is not feeling so good. D: What is his name? Ps mom: George. D: How old are you George? Pacient: Im 12. D: What does struggles you son? P: I am feeling dizzy. I have a bad headache since yesterday morning. D: So you have this problem since yesterday. But, do you have other sympthoms? Ps mom: Yes, my boy had a strong fever last night. I got scared when I saw 39o C on the thermometer. This morning he told me his skin started to be itchy. Im kind of desperate doctor. D: I couldnt pronounce myself right now but the symthomps appears to direct me to a chickenpox. But i will be sure after the blood examination. Ps mom: That means George have to stay in hospital a cuple of days. D: Yes. Mrs. Cute tell me about your family environment. Have you had some illness problems in your house lately? Such as coughing, sneezing? Ps mom: No. But I saw at his school that some kids have health problems and the teacher doesnt care about these problems. D: And, there is chance that some of your sons mates had chickenpox and he got it very quicly. Its just a matter of time, if its chickenpox the problem. But dont worry, 2 days in the hospital and your son will be allright. Ps mom: Thank you doctor! After the first day in wich George stood in the hospital Dr. Joy wanted to exam the boy again. And surprise, some skin rash had appeared and the blood examination told that there is an infection inside the pacients body. D: George, you havent told me, how is school? P: Not so bad, I think, its kind of interesting. If we hadnt chance to go to school, how we supose to become important adults?! D: There you have a point little guy! P: Doctor, do I have chickenpox or not? My mom tells me I dont have to worry because its not so bad. Cancer is bad. Having chickenpox its like riding a bike for a couple of days.

D: This are the result from your blood samples, and. Your not so lucky. You have chickenpox. Congratulations. I think you have been taking it from one of your classmates. P: I will be allright in 2 days? No? D: I admire your funny character but this time you have to stay in the house for at least 2 weeks! P: 2 weeks????? D: Yes, two weeks. And youll have some medication to take. Now I will go to call your mother in order to take you home. P: I hate chickenpox!
