FIRST JNRD SCIENTIFIC DEBUT - 2012

1. PRESENTATION The Journal of Natural Resources and Development, JNRD, is a scientific electronic publication that invites for contributions which help to better understand the interface between the environment and the human development, as well as the processes and dynamics of socio-ecological systems. It's the only peer reviewed Journal that relates the natural resources and the development. JNRD is one of the main projects of the Center for Natural Resources and Development, an international institution which pursuit to create a knowledge network regarding issues on assessing and managing the natural resources base as a prerequisite for sustainable development. The First JNRD Scientific Debut is an initiative to integrate students in to the Journal's authors team, offering them a chance to submit articles to an international online publication. 2. PARTICIPATION REQUEST In the First JNRD Scientific Debut any postgraduate student from any university located in any country can participate. Applicants can be from any career; however their articles should always be covered by the JNRD scope. 3. INSCRIPTION Applicants must register sending an e-mail to debut@jnrd.info with their name, graduation career, postgraduate program, faculty, university and country, besides the tentative title of the article. Due date to inscription is February 28 - 2012. No entry fee is required.

4. CONTENTS GUIDELINES The next contents guidelines must be followed by all entrants to qualify: 4.1 Articles must be original and not being considered for other publications. 4.2 Articles must be written in English. 4.3 Applicants can send an unlimited number of entries. 4.4 Issues to be included are of local, regional or global scale, referring to any world region; however, they should always be of interdisciplinary nature linking environmental and societal issues. 4.5 Articles must cover one of the JNRD main topics: Integrated water resources management; Land use dynamics and biodiversity; Energy efficiency and renewable resources; Regional management and sustainable livelihoods of the poor. (See the JNRD scope in detail here) 4.6 Type of articles accepted are: review articles, original research articles, research reports, short communications, commentaries, book reviews and case studies. (See all the information about the type of articles here). 4.7 Articles must be sent to the e-mail debut@jnrd.info including the principal author short biography. Applicants should also send a personal photo and the university/faculty logo, both in JPG format. Any entry which does not meet the requirements and deadlines outlined herein will be disqualified from the Scientific Debut. (See the Authors Guidelines here). 5. JURY Entries will be judged by the JNRD Editorial Advisory Board on the basis of readability, clarity, organization and timeliness.

6. REWARD Chosen articles will be featured in the JNRD website. Each one will be displayed accompanied by the students photo, a short biography, contact info, university or faculty logo and copyright disclosure. Chosen articles authors will be notified via e-mail. They will also be publicly announced in the JNRD website and via other media. All chosen articles will remain in the JNRD database. 7. DEADLINES - Inscription: February 28 2012. - Articles submission: May 30 2012. - Jury decision: Since July 2012. - Publication: One or two articles each month, starting on September 2012. Authors will be notified.
