Apa itu Kolesterol?

Apa yang Anda ketahui mengenai kolesterol? Rata-rata orang mengetahui bahwa kolesterol bisa memicu timbulnya penyakit jantung atau darah tinggi. Tapi ada beberapa fakta lain yang jarang diketahui orang mengenai kolesterol. Kolesterol tinggi yang terdapat dalam darah memang berbahaya bagi seseorang, tapi terkadang kolesterol bisa ditemukan dalam kadar yang sangat rendah pada beberapa orang tertentu. Kolesterol yang terlalu tinggi atau terlalu rendah berisiko mengalami penyakit tertentu. Ini dia beberapa fakta lain mengenai kolesterol, seperti dikutip dari CNN, Jumat (27/11/2009) yaitu: 1. Kolesterol tinggi tak bisa terelakkan pada beberapa orang. Terkadang banyak orang yang memiliki kolesterol tinggi karena faktor genetik. Sehingga tingginya kadar kolesterol jahat (LDL) selalu berada dalam kadar yang tidak sehat. Orang yang memiliki hiperkolestrolemia biasanya mewarisi 2 gen dari masing-masing orangtua. 2. Kolesterol tinggi bisa dilihat dari kulit. Biasanya orang tahu kolesterolnya tinggi setelah melakukan pemeriksaan dokter. Tapi kolesterol tinggi bisa muncul di kulit sebagai benjolan kemerahan kekuningan yang dikenal dengan Xanthomas. Ukurannya bervariasi dan biasanya ditemukan pada sendi, tangan dan kelopak mata. 3. Kolesterol terlalu rendah bisa berbahaya. Kadar kolesterol yang terlalu rendah juga tidak bagus untuk kesehatan. Peneliti menunjukkan ibu hamil yang kadar kolesterolnya rendah cenderung melahirkan bayi prematur, serta pada orang dewasa bisa menyebabkan kegelisahan dan depresi. 4. Olahraga meningkatkan kolesterol baik. Penelitian terkini yang dipublikasikan dalan Journal of Lipid Research menunjukkan bahwa olahraga bisa meningkatkan kadar kolesterol baik (HDL) dalam tubuh. Olahraga yang diperlukan tidak perlu yang berat tapi bisa dengan olahraga ringan saja. 5. Makanan bebas kolesterol tetap bisa menghasilkan kolesterol. Kolesterol biasanya dibuat di dalam hati binatang dan hanya ditemukan dalam berbagai makanan yang berasal dari binatang seperti daging, susu dan telur. Terkadang kolesterol didapatkan dari cara pengolahan makanan tersebut seperti melalui penggorengan atau pemanggangan. 6. Kolesterol tinggi bisa menyebabkan disfungsi ereksi. Peneliti Swedia pada tahun 2005 menemukan bahwa pria yang memiliki kadar koesterol 270 mg/dL atau lebih memiliki kemungkinan 4,5 kali lebih tinggi mengalami disfungsi ereksi. Untuk itu ketahui dengan pasti berapa kadar koleterol Anda, apakah termasuk kolesterol tinggi atau rendah. Fakta Mengenai Otak Manusia


Otak manusia menyerupai komputer canggih yang menyimpan apa yang kita alami dan mengendalikan bagaimana kita sebagai manusia berperilaku dan bertindak. Sampai dengan saat ini ilmuwan masih berupaya untuk mengungkap kecanggihan otak manusia. Otak adalah pusat saraf manusia, yang mengendalikan pikiran, gerakan, ingatan dan keputusan manusia. Dari waktu ke waktu, otak manusia juga mengalami perkembangan dan semakin rumit untuk dipelajari. Otak adalah bagian dari tubuh kita yang sampai sekarang sulit diungkapkan oleh ilmuwan. Otak mengandung milion sel saraf yang mengirim dan menerima informasi dari seluruh tubuh manusia. Otak manusia tiga kali lebih besar dari otak mamalia yang memiliki ukuran tubuh yang sama. Masing-masing sisi dari otak berinteraksi sebagian besar dengan sebagian tubuh. Interaksi selalu berlaku untuk sisi tubuh yang berlawanan. Otak sebelah kanan berinteraksi dengan tubuh sebelah kiri begitu sebaliknya. Bagian terbesar dari otak manusia disebut Cerebrum. Bagian penting lainnya meliputi Corpus Callosum, Cerebral Cortex, Thalamus, Cerebellum, Hypothalamus, Hippocampus dan lain-lain. Otak manusia dilindungi oleh batok kepala (Cranium), sebuah helm ciptaan Tuhan yang terdiri dari kumpulan 22 tulang. Otak orang dewasa memiliki berat 1.5 kg. Meskipun hanya 2% dari berat tubuh ratarata, otak mengkonsumsi 20% dari energi tubuh. Otak dikelilingi oleh cairan Cerebrospinal, sehingga otak mengapung dan cairan tersebut berfungsi sebagai bantalan atas benturan kepala dan juga pelindung terjadinya infeksi. Penyakit pada otak termasuk Alzheimer, Parkinso dan Sclerosis. Penyakit-penyakit ini dapat membatasi fungsi normal otak manusia. Banyaknya benturan pada kepala dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya pembekuan darah pada otak yang menghambat peredaran darah yang menyebabkan kerusakan jaringan otak terdekat dan berbagai gejala lain dalam skala yang lebih luas.

Harimau putih adalah harimau langka karena membawa gen yang hanya hadir di sekitar 1 dalam setiap 10.000 harimau. y y y y y Harimau biasanya berburu sendirian di malam hari. Harimau dikenal mampu berlari dengan kecepatan hingga 65 km per jam. Tetapi dalam setiap perburuan hanya kurang dari 10% yang berhasil bagi harimau. Harimau mampu melompat dengan mudah lebih dari 5 meter. Berbagai subspesies harimau adalah hewan nasional dari Bangladesh, India, Korea Utara, Korea Selatan dan Malaysia.

Saya Benci OKU!

Saya benci perangai OKU. OKU ini dipandang rendah masyarakat. OKU buat kerja apa pun tak pernah sungguh-sungguh. Baru buat kerja sikit dah berhenti separuh jalan. "Tak mampu," kata mereka. Memanglah tak ada orang yang suka mahu ambil OKU untuk bekerja dengan mereka. Saya juga sarankan pada teman-teman semuanya supaya janganlah diambil OKU bekerja dengan anda. Mereka hanya bakal menyusahkan anda dengan mereka. Merungut lebat, kerjanya lambat. Ya, saya tahu OKU ni banyak kekurangan. Tapi kita yang lain ini juga serba kekurangan. Itukan fitrah manusia. Tiada yang sempurna. Jadi apa jua dalih yang OKU beri, sama sekali tak boleh diterima! Sudah malas, banyak pula alasannya. Apa? Kalian kata saya kejam? Kurang sensitif? Kurang ajar? Kurang asam? Tak ada adab? Sabar, sabar, sabar dulu... OKU itu hanyalah satu gelaran, tapi gelaran itu bukanlah mutlak pada satu milikan. OKU yang saya katakan bukanlah mereka yang tak berkaki tak bertangan. Tapi pada mereka yang kerjanya, hidupnya tiada kesungguhan. Mereka ini tidak lain tidak bukan, hanya mahu hidup bersenang-senangan tanpa mahu mengenal erti kepayahan. Keliru? Masih rasakan saya zalim tak berhati perut? Tak mengapalah. Kita semua ada pendapat sendiri. Ini pendapat saya. Kata-kata saya sendiri, dan saya bercakap ini melalui pengalaman dan dari apa yang saya perhati. Kalau kalian tak bersetuju, sila sahaja nyatakan. Tapi saya akan terus tetap dengan pendirian... Wahai Tuhanku, lapangkanlah bagiku dadaku; dan mudahkanlah bagiku tugasku; dan lepaskanlah simpulan dari lidahku, dan kurniakanlah aku ilham dari sisi-Mu agar apa yang ku kongsikan di sini terletak dalam redha-Mu; dan peliharalah penulisan ini, serta si penulisnya, juga pembacanya agar kami sentiasa taat pada perintahMu dan tidak gentar dalam menegakkan agama-Mu. * OKU - Orang Kurang Usaha itu memang hanya menyusahkan!

Ketika kita sedang membaca tulisan ini, apakah dosa terakhir yang telah kita buat sebelum ini? Sehebat mana maksiat yang kita lakukan, kita pasti membencinya tatkala kita kembali merenung dan bermuhasabah sendirian. Sepuas mana hati itu merasa dengan dosa yang kita lakukan, pasti ada tersudut perasaan benci, dan menyesal yang teramat sangat atas apa yang telah kita lakukan. Itulah fitrah yang telah Allah ciptakan dalam diri kita. Bukannya kita tidak merasa menyesal, tapi kita selalu menolak rasa penyesalan dan masih terus memenangkan kemaksiatan. Kita ingin bertaubat dengan sebenar-benarnya, namun perasaan ingin bertaubat itu tersisih di pinggiran hati.
