Thermodynamic analysis of I C Engine, Air standard cycles, Fuel-air cycle, Actual Cycle, Variation between air standard cycle and actual cycle. 2. Combustion in S I Engine: General Combustion theory, Normal combustion and flame front propagation, factors affecting flame speed, Abnormal combustion, Engine operating variables affecting detonation, combustion chamber design, stratified charge engine. 3. Combustion in C I Engine: Ignition delay, knocking in C I Engine, Variable affecting ignition delay, Performance of C I Engine, Variables affecting C I Engine performance. General functions and characteristics of the combustion chamber. Basic designs of combustion chambers: Turbulent and Non-Turbulent type 4.
