A Senior Lean Leadership Gemba Walk and Reflection event will be held on June 1 & 2, 2011 in Ogden Utah. The event will include an indepth tour at Autoliv and a day of learning and reflection. The Gemba walk will be led by Ross Robson the Creator and ex Director of the Shingo prize. The day of reflection will be led by Joe Murli, Principal of the Murli Group, and Kathi Hanley, an expert who led the management development and training programs at Toyota. Participants will get a chance to see, ask questions, and understand how this organization is led and managed day to day. This group will purposely be kept small and exclusive to the executive ranks of the invited companies. This will keep the conversation relevant to the issues executives face and allow for deep reflection of where each company is on its journey and what next steps to take from a Leadership/Management perspective. Pat Kramer, a Lean Coach with the Murli Group, will be presenting Lean Solutions for the Real World of Laboratory Animal Sciences at the AALAS District 5 Annual Meeting in Cincinnati OH on June 2, 2011. Using examples from successful lean facility transformations, the participants will learn how lean thinking can impact the operation and management of their facilities. Join Joe Murli and Pat Kramer as they present the workshop Using Lean Visual Management Tools in Healthcare at the ASQ 2011 Quality Institute for Healthcare in Pittsburgh, PA May 17, 2011. Joe Murli, faculty member of the Lean Enterprise Institute, will be presenting Key Concepts of Lean in Chicago on April 5-6. The Murli Group will be presenting a storyboard outlining the lean implementation of the Fallon Clinic Patient Care Improvement System at the 2011 IHI Office Practice Summit in Dallas March 20 -22, 2011. At the recent 2011 Lean Transformation Summit in Dallas, Joe Murli was joined by Jim Mutschler, Assistant Vice President of Field Operations for Liberty Mutual Insurance as they presented a session on the Lean Metrics Journey of the Personal Market Claims division of this global insurance carrier. A Lean Symposium sharing experience of the application of lean management principles and Toyota Production Systems (TPS) tools to the laboratory animal care community was presented by John Rizzo in Atlanta on October 10, 2010. Comparative Medicine from Massachusetts General Hospital was American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) 61st National Annual meeting. Mark Hamel to present webinar series for Society of Manufacturing Engineers, October 2010. Based on his Shingo Prize Winning book, Mark will be presenting a three part webinar series on Kaizen Event Effectiveness. The Murli Group is recognized for Lean Transformation, August, 2010 by subsidiary of Allstate Insurance. Sterling Autobody, a nationwide chain of collision shops identified the Murli Group as key to its ongoing Lean Transformation. Joe Murli to present Pre-Conference Workshop at 2010 Lean Healthcare Summit in Orlando Florida, June 8, 2010. The Lean Enterprise Institute is joining with the Thedacare Center for Healthcare Value on June 9-10 to present the first Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit. The latest best practices in lean healthcare will be presented by leaders from organizations around the country who are successfully implementing lean methods. The summit will be a great opportunity to network and compare notes with others who are using lean to improve patient safety, quality, access, efficiency and satisfaction. Mark Hamel, Murli Group Lean Implementation Consultant awarded Shingo Research Award for Kaizen Event Fieldbook on May 19, 2010 in Salt Lake City Utah. The award, which recognizes and promotes research and writing regarding new knowledge and understanding of Lean and operational excellence is given annually by the Shingo Prize organization. The Kaizen Event Fieldbook, published by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, provides an understanding of the essential whys and hows of Kaizen event standard work and event management. Using practical examples, the book addresses strategy, pre-event planning, execution and follow-through in a multiphase approach. Congratulations Mark! Joe Murli, guest on the Lean Nation Radio Show May 14, 2010. For the second time, Joe speaks live on the air with host Karl Wadensten about Lean Healthcare and the importance to creating a culture for transformation involving the entire healthcare team. Joe Murli and Pat Kramer presented workshops in Seattle for the Lean Enterprise Institute May 1113, 2010. With an audience of healthcare leaders, practitioners and managers, Supporting Healthcare Leadership Standard Work with Visual Management Tools and Open Access: Improving Patient Access to Ambulatory Care using Lean Thinking were presented. Murli Group client Steve Niemi , Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Comparative Medicine interviewed on the Lean Nation Radio Show April 5, 2010. After touring VIBCO, a lean manufacturing plant in Rhode Island, with the leadership staff of the Center for Comparative Medicine, Steve shared his thoughts with host Karl Wadensten on lean healthcare and the impact the tranformation facilitated by the Murli Group was having on his organization.
