Book Fair Luau! Its a Reading Celebration

Dear Parents and Families, You are invited to our Scholastic Book Fair, an exciting, fun-filled event for students and families, scheduled from Monday, February 6 to Thursday, February 9. Please stop by anytime between 8:00-3:30 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday to see whats happening at our Book Fair Luau! We will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7. A Book Fair connects students with books at affordable prices and makes reading a positive experience. Children are more likely to read the books they personally get to choose. Its one of the best ways to get more kids reading, and kids reading more. Supporting the book fair helps us add more books to the library and provides funding for special events. We will send more information home with your child before the fair. Look for a book list with some of the items that will be for sale. There will also be a schedule of when your childs class visits the book fair (although you and they are welcome any time it is open). If you plan to pay for your purchases by check, please make it out to SCSD #9. Please join us to make this Book Fair the BEST our school has ever seen. We look forward to seeing you at the fair.
Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel Authors, illustrators and sisters Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel are coming to visit our school on Wednesday, Feb. 15th. They will talk about the creative process and perform their books using power point, puppets, props, and skits. Check out Susans website at www.susanstevenscrummel.com to get more information about her and her sister. Its sure to be a fun-filled day for our students.

EXCUSE ABSENCES
Please call the office if your student will not be in school that day. We would also appreciate a written excuse when your child returns after an absence. Our office may give you a call if you did not contact us to be sure you know if your child is not in school. Mandatory school attendance laws require us to track excused versus unexcused absences. We appreciate your help on this matter!
Information on what PTO is doing, please e-mail bpespto@hotmail.com to be added to our e-mail list. To submit any pictures to possibly be put in the yearbook, please e-mail them to bpeptoyearbook@gmail.com or submit a hard copy to the school office.
