Department Valent Business Unit - Service GeneralSummary The Controls Engineer (Service) will provide consistent, reliable, and accurate in-depth technical, application, and problem resolution support to the field organization (customers, sales personnel and service personnel). Strong customer communication, organization and project management skills required. Must have the ability to identify the cause and solution(s) to field issues and take responsibility for field projects, including both remote and on-site support of installation, checkout and commissioning. Must have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate with customers and manufacturer's representatives. DutiesandResponsibilities Provide technical product/systems/application support when requested by the field sales organization or customers by phone or e-mail within agreed-upon time frame. Develop and demonstrate applications understanding for control logic on Valent equipment. Answer phone calls and assist callers with problem resolution Identify trends in issues and communicate to the appropriate team for resolution in order to improve product quality, and customer satisfaction while reducing call volume. Participate in related activities when assigned, including: Product qualification testing and field trials.

Office and manufacturing efficiency improvements for controls. Author and/or review product literature. Develop/conduct technical training classes. Field events (seminars, shows, etc.) Customer visits. Identify product defects and assist with product quality and/or process improvements. Utilize tools such as Pro-Builder, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, CRM, Fortis and SAP. Ability to work regularly and dependably as well as in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to cope with stress and maintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and external customers. Demonstrated ability to perform mental tasks such as making decisions, learning, thinking rationally and exercising good judgment. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program. 2 to 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience is required. Experience in networking, Lonworks, BACnet, TCP/IP and/or Niagara Framework are a plus. Must have a high level of analytical ability, be able to exercise independent judgment frequently, and have solid communication skills.
