Y EAR 4 T RIP S CIENCE M USEUM

On Monday 16th January, Year 4 went on a trip to the Science Half term events Museum in London. The trip was designed to enhance the Assemblies childrens learning about Energy and our Carbon Footprint, Playground Pals which is our topic for the current half term. After travelling by train and underground, 4H and 4C visited Week 1 Menu the many exhibits on show and after an exciting lesson with a Building/Governor News museum teacher, had exclusive access to the interactive Parent News Energy Gallery, where the children were able to learn about Gold Book Entries the positive and negative impacts of renewable and non Weekly Attendance renewable sources of energy. Forthcoming Dates: The children also visited the hands-on Launch Pad area. Here, Tuesday 31st January they got to have a go at a variety of interactive experiments, FOB Meeting watch electrifying shows and lively demos, all from the Monday 13th February wonderful world of physics. The children could all be heard Half term week asking questions and making sense of the way things work! Tuesday 21st February Many thanks to the teaching assistants and parent helpers Yr 3 Natural History Museum who came with us on this trip. The Tuesday 28th February children were highly commended on Y5 Golden Hind trip their behaviour and politeness. Once Governors Meeting again, a pleasure to take them on a Wednesday 29th February trip away from school!

FREE HALF TERM ACTIVITIES Thursday 16th February Childrens Half Term River Dip! Meet: Marlborough Park Avenue entrance to Marlborough Park Time: 10am 12pm Come and explore the creatures of the Shuttlefish, water scorpions, water beetles, shrimp and many more have been found in this beautiful stretch of the river! Places are limited so please book in advance. Parents are requested to stay for the duration of the event and join in if they like! Children to bring own wellies please but all other equipment will be provided. Saturday 18th February Half Term event - Nest Box making!! Meet: Junction of Days Lane and Berwick Crescent, Sidcup Time: 10am 12.30pm With the smell of spring in the air and to celebrate National Nest Box week, come along and have a go at building your very own bird box!! This event is free of charge and all materials will be provided but adult supervision will be required and places are very limited so you must book in advance. Bird boxes will be going up in Parish Wood Park in time for spring. Please let me know if you would like to attend this event by Monday 6th Feb at the very latest. Parking A silver Vauxhall Zafira reg MK53 KKD was parked across the driveway of a resident in Brampton Road and when asked to move, reluctantly did but ended up parking across someone elses driveway. This number has been passed on to our community police officers who patrol the area to monitor parking. Please park thoughtfully and think of others. Recent Assemblies We have had two special assemblies this term. Jenny from the Bexley Road Safety unit introduced the Walk on Wednesdays scheme to the whole school. She shared some interesting facts with the school. Did you know that girls need to take 12,000 steps each day to keep fit and 3 in 10 boys dont have even have one hours exercise?
Mr Morris demonstrating the length of the world Olympic long jump distance.

Last week Mr Morris, a past parent and Chair of Governors, spoke to the juniors about the London Olympics. He showed the children the height jumped by the world record high jumper and ran out of tape to show us the length reached in the long jump. Our children were reminded of the Olympic values and how they match our school aims, including friendship, respect, excellence and determination. Children were challenged to be champion of the future. Playground Pals Mrs Sword made a presentation in assembly to her second group of Playground Pals. Many thanks to Arwen Buckle, Anousha Vadukul, Emily Steer, Romy Hares and Zara Matharoo for all their help to make our playtimes happy for everyone. Football Results The girls 7 a side team have played more games in their league and drew 3-3 with Longlands before winning 6-0 against St Stephens. Many thanks to Mr Capelli and Mr Kempster.

Peanut Allergies Please can we remind everyone that we are a Peanut Free school in our cooked meals and we ask parents not to put any nuts or items containing nuts in their childs packed lunches. Thank you Building Update Since the last report plastering has finished and sink units have been fitted. Internal decoration is now being completed. External ground work is currently progressing in line with the programme. The drive way and car park has been prepared for a new tarmac surface and new electric gates will be fitted to the entrance. Governor News - Premise Committee This committee is chaired by Mr Allen and consists of 7 governors. It met last week and had an update on the new build and arrangements for the hand over. Priorities for future works was discussed such as improving disability access. Parent News Last week Miss Fisher received a lovely email from Mrs Dhoofer praising Miss Hope and her efforts over and above the normal pressures to support her children, saying that Miss Hope displayed enthusiasm, positive attitude and encouragement to children. She recommended that Miss Hope should go into our Gold Book! So well done Miss Hope you are a credit to Brampton. If any other parents wish to nominate a member of staff please let us know via the school office.

BRAMPTON GOLD BOOK Striving to Reach the Best Every week we print the names of those children who have achieved in either their work, conduct or behaviour around school and have been entered in the Gold Book. They have been mentioned in Mondays celebratory assembly. After 3 mentions children receive a bronze certificate, 6 mentions for a silver, 9 mentions for a gold, 12 mentions for a Super Gold and 15 mentions for a Platinum certificate, 18 for Diamond, 21+ for a Head teachers Award and 24 for a Special Head teacher Award and Badge.

Our School Total was 93.2% Raffle Prize Winners The winners in this weeks draw for tea with Miss Fisher were Josie Brooks in RB. Jake Lieu in 6M was pulled out but as he has already been he kindly said to let someone else have his place so 2 junior names will be pulled next week.
