The manufacturing industry is the largest segment of the industrial sector and is recognised as the key driver of the

development of other sectors of the economy

The manufacturing sector is experiencing robust growth as India has a strong base in engineering and capital goods. The Indian engineering sector's future outlook holds promising future because of high industrial growth, infrastructure development and favourable policies. Indian engineering goods, especially the fasteners are fast gaining acceptance in overseas markets, with exports of engineering goods increasing to USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, France and other parts of the world. Manufacturers of steel fasteners like tinner rivets, round head rivets, wire nails, roofing bolts (with nut), carriage bolts (with nut & washer), machine screws, sheet metal & self tapping screws, hex nuts, washers, weldding electrodes and wood screws etc., have made forward strides both in terms of domestic supply as well as export. Fasteners, like nuts, bolts, screws and rivets have an important role in the industrial applications. Nuts and bolts and other fasteners plays key role in holding product components together. Fasteners also find their use in daily items, from the safety pins and buttons to rubber bands, you will find them everywhere. But with the increase in the industrial sector, the demand for specialty fasteners has also increased manifold. There is a huge demand for fasteners in almost everything around us in our everyday. From infrastructure to automobiles, the fasteners are in high demand everywhere. There are several types of nuts in use today:Hex nuts have six sides and can be held or turned with a standard spanner3 or socket wrench. Their thickness is usually equal to the outside dimension of the threads. Common practice is to allow the bolts to extend half the thickness past the end of the nut. Coupler nuts are similar to hex nuts except that they are thicker, and as the name implies, they are used to connect two different bolts together. Cap nuts, also known as 'acorn nuts', are also similar to hex nuts, but they have a solid top to cover the exposed threads of the bolt. Bolts are the most important part of a threaded connection. They have a round stem, known as the body, with threads cut into one end and a head for gripping at the other. Some bolts are threaded along their full length, while others have only a short threaded area at the end. Unlike nuts, bolts come in different lengths and are selected by the thickness of the material between the nut and head of the bolt. Screws are used when the parts to be fastened together have threaded holes in them. Alternatively, some kinds of screws are 'self-tapping', which means that they cut their own threads as they are screwed in. Over the years the demand for fasteners especially nuts and bolts have increased manifold owing to the stupendous growth being registered by various engineering industries in India. Fasteners commonly used in the engineering industries are today available in varied sizes, designs and capacities to meet the demands of the industry. Their quality is judged upon durability, sturdiness, rustproof quality and the ease with which they can be installed.
