The inaugural Burns Supper on Friday, January 27th was a huge success...SOLD OUT with a waiting list! A big thank you to Meredith & Jason Helgerson who hosted the evening. Meredith not only spent a lot of time and energy getting all the details just right prior to the event, she greeted each guest as they arrived with a warm smile and a chat and served as mistress of ceremonies. She truly made the event memorable for everyone who attended. But dont just take our word for it... Burns Supper was, in a word, magical. Candlelight, white roses and heather, bagpiper, great food and masterful readings of the works of Rabbie Burns. Thanks to all who participated, and especially to Meredith and Jason for hosting. Slainte! -Colleen Ryan It was a fantastic evening and Rob and I enjoyed it so much. Hope to make it an annual event on my calendar. Awrabest! As they say in Glasgow! -Duncan Hunter

Weve got an extra day this year, so make the best of it. Leap Day usually occurs only once every four years. A day is added to the calendar in leap years as a corrective measure, because the earth does not orbit around the sun in precisely 365 days. In the Gregorian calendar, the current

standard calendar in most of the world, most years that are evenly divisible by 4 are leap years. In each leap year, the month of February has 29 days instead of 28. Join the UC Foundation on Leap Day, Wednesday, February 29th from 6-8 pm. We will be featuring hot & cold hors doeuvres a sampling of wines with names appropriate to the occasion such as Stump Jump, Frogs Leap, and Rabbit Ridge. The reception will conclude with an exciting raffle for a bottle of Stags Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Cask 23, 1987. This highly collectible bottle was donated by an anonymous benefactor and boasts a Robert Parker 91 rating and an estimated auction price of $360-$400. Raffle tickets will be available for $2 each, 3 for $5, or 7 for $10. So go ahead...leap to the conclusion that youll have a great time and call us to make a reservation.
