Invert Emulsion Drilling Fluids systems have long been the preferred system of many operators for providing excellent borehole stability under extreme drilling conditions.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Increased rate of penetration, reducing overall well cost. Provides excellent wellbore stability while drilling through reactive shales. Maximise lubricity for drilling high angle extended reach and horizontal wells. Provides low fluid loss as well as the best available filtercake to reduce the potential for differential sticking. Prevents formation related problems such as bit balling, heaving gumbo and blinding of shale shaker screens. The ability to choose low base fluid to water ratios to reduce formulation cost and environmental impact. Excellent temperature and contamination stability. Flexible choice of base fluid allows compliance with Environmental Regulations worldwide. Superior return permeability results, ensuring minimal formation damage. Provides excellent hole cleaning characteristics. Wide range of drilling fluid properties and densities to suit various drilling requirements. Generates less waste than water-based fluid systems.
The CONFI-DRILL invert emulsion system consists of three phases: non-aqueous, brine and solids phase. The most important parts of the system, however, are the emulsifying chemicals designed to create and maintain the invert emulsion. The system can be formulated using various base fluids, including Low Toxicity Mineral Oil (LTMO), Linear Paraffin (LP), Linear Alpha Olefin (LAO) and Internal Olefin (IO). CONFI-DRILL is an invert emulsion system, the composition of which can be tailored to meet environmental regulations and performance criteria. CONFI-DRILL is a very stable invert emulsion synthetic drilling fluid, selected because of its great flexibility in meeting changing drilling conditions.
This system has excellent rheological and filtration characteristics which are easily modified to meet changing temperature and pressure conditions. TYPICAL WELL COST COMPARISON USING CONFI-DRILL VS. INHIBITIVE WBM
