Important Reminders Student Attendance: Please remember that written excuses must be received from parents when students are absent from school. Also, in general, excused absences relate to sickness, a doctors appointment or an emergency situation that could not be avoided; however, a written explanation of any absence is required. Please send the note the day your child returns to school. Only notes received within one week of the absence are reviewed to determine if the absence should be excused. Also, please remember that decisions about which students in grades 9-12 exempt exams in May are based on grades and attendance. Late notes will not be accepted at the end of the school year in order for students to exempt exams. To avoid having a disappointed student, send or e-mail notes explaining absences in a timely manner. Again, thank you, parents, for enforcing school attendance and for following guidelines when an absence is unavoidable. For questions about attendance procedures and guidelines, contact the school office or check pages 4, 5, and 32 of this years Parent/Student Handbook. School Holiday: Monday, February 20 (assuming this day is not needed as a make-up day due to inclement weather) Enrichment Fridays for Students in grades 7-12: February 10 and February 24 Congratulations to Aryan Patel for placing first in the SCISA Regional Spelling Bee held on January 19. We are exploring the feasibility of offering day care for students in grades prekindergarten through five during the summer. If you have an interest, please contact Mrs. Deborah Poland by Wednesday, February 22. In order for us to consider a summer program, we need to be sure enough interest exists to allow day care to be self-supporting. YOU ARE NOT obligating yourself or your child at this point---only helping us determine if we should dedicate time to defining details so that parents can make a decision about commitment. Dont Forget PTO is sponsoring a Tuition Raffle. You may purchase tickets from a PTO Board member or in the office.
