Job Description Employee Relations Job Purpose:

The assistant manager Employee Relations is responsible for creating a fair, respectful, diverse and high Performance culture enabling people to contribute their best. The person will develop, deliver and maintain a business focused employee relations strategy that meets the needs of all YTM stakeholders and ensure that the Employee Relations (ER) team achieve their objectives and work plan. Responsibilities:

Lead negotiations and consultation with any formal union and staff Associations on behalf Of YTM with a view to achieving positive outcomes and broad agreement to proposals which meets YTM business goals.
Lead on the employee relations aspects of proposed changes to organization structure and Employment levels and contracts which are needed to support the delivery of YTM business objectives. Contribute to the strategic development of the Human Resource function by developing a progressive, business focused employee relations strategy that meets the current and future needs of the organization. Contribute to the continued improvement of the health of the organization by monitoring performance indicators, such as sickness absence, levels of grievances and disciplinary and work/life balance, and developing initiatives and solutions to enable positive trends. Identify and implement positive employee relations programs, in consultation with the relevant stakeholder groups, that will lead to a more efficient and motivated workforce. Provide responsive and high quality support, training and advice to all parts of the business including senior managers to ensure the appropriate management of all employee relations issues including in particular change management, grievances, poor performance and disciplinary action. Manage the people aspects of any restructures within the organization, including redeployment and redundancy are completed within timescales and budgets. Ensure that the appropriate HR support mechanisms are in place for staff. Provide advice and guidance on all the ER aspects of pay and reward projects, changes to pay related terms and conditions of employment, pay reviews and their implementation. Manage effectively all litigation and Employment Tribunal cases for YTM and act as the intelligent client for YTM retained lawyers, protecting the reputation and finances of the organization. Ensure YTM HR policies and processes are current, conform to employment legislation and, where appropriate, are coherent with other government departments practices. Responsible for updating all HR policies except for recruitment and L&D where a coordinating role is required. Experience: Experience of managing and handling the people aspects of restructures and redundancies A track record of delivery in the areas of planning and delivering of employee relations initiatives. Demonstrable experience of managing contentious people issues effectively together with a high level of emotional intelligence and strong inter-personal and communication skills. Will ideally possess a sound generalist HR background with experience of managing people and a wide understanding of people issues.
