Niyyaah. Ameen. A question has been put to me. It was something like the following, though the wording is mine. Quote: Lets say there are five male and female people in a room. Now lets say a Man rapes a woman. God in His Divine Wisdom already knew this. So: Why did it God allow it when He knew full well that the man would do so? It doesnt benefit God at all, because He already had this knowledge. Rather for this the woman had to go through unneeded suffering. Why is it so? If the theist answers "its all a test", then the question would remain the same in its essence. God already knows the end results. So why let men go through this life, especially when it might result in evil being done? Answer: The atheist has basically two major flaws in his line of reasoning. 1. First, he assumes that God tests Human beings to know the Test results. In other words, God is experimenting with human lives so that he might add the results to His knowledge. 2. Second, he assumes that the suffering done to the rape victim is unneeded and unfair. These assumptions of the atheist are false, which resulted in the Misunderstanding. The flaw in his first assumption was, God doesnt need to know anything. God is Omnipotent so He already has the knowledge of the end results. The reason for the tests that we are going through is so that on the Day of Judgment no person bound for hellfire will have any excuse. Had there been no tests, and the only reason a person would have been thrown into the hellfire were "God knows Best", then obviously the man would not be rationally convinced of the Judgment of God and say I would have done good if you gave me a Chance. So precisely this chance is what he has been given. God knows full well where we are heading, and why we are heading there. But just so we wouldnt have any excuses, God actually lets us sit the Exam. The flaw in his second assumption is he assumes that the evil done to the rape victim is unneeded, and unfair. Both however are wrong. It is not unneeded, since when a person is afflicted with evil, it could be due to many reasons, like a) Putting the person through times of trial. If he is patient through it, he/she would be rewarded. If he/she is not patient, it only goes to show that his/her faith wasnt genuine/strong. So Evil in fact is a test to judge a person's measure of faith. or the reason could be b) Punishment for his/her sins, by the means of this trial afflicted upon him/her he/she is expiated from some/all of his/her sins. So God let the rape occur because the person was given free will, and free will is the key part of the Test men go through. The evil outcome of Free will is not however so to say "genuine" Evil, rather this Evil is allowed to take place because of many good results, a couple of which has been mentioned above. At the end of the day, there are nothing irrational about the scenario the atheist presented. Allah knows Best. Quote: You are misinterpreting the word "test". When humans do a test, it is most of the time with the purpose of finding out new information. That's however not a necessary condition for performing a "test". A teacher might in a similar way also already know who knows and masters the material he thought in his class. He might see in class that some people simply don't understand things, this doesn't mean it's "fair" for him to flunk these people without giving them an opportunity to prove themselves. And I'm sure you'll say that this is different, because the teacher isn't omniscient, he could be mistaken. True, but still the point remains, by testing us, God is depriving us from excuses and denial. On the day of judgement those who will deserve hell will say that God is the most just, and that they fully deserve it. By that time they will understand their actions, and the logic behind it. So the "test" of life certainly has purpose, despite God already knowing the answer.
