ROCKGARAGE YOUTH BANDS SHOWCASE WEEKEND IS MARCH 2 AND MARCH 3, 2012 YOUTH ROCK PROGRAM CELEBRATES 10TH SEASON WITH MODERN, CLASSIC, PUNK & PROG ROCK SHOW
Salt Lake City MusicGarage.Org marks the tenth season of its RockGarage youth music program with a free showcase on March 2 and 3 from 7-9 pm performed by 11-16 year olds at the new MusicGarage.Org facility. MusicGarage.Org is a fun, practical and affordable add-on service to private lessons that music teachers in the community use to organize and rehearse their students in bands. The group for March showcases are a network of tween and teen musicians who are getting to know one-another in four 11-week seasons per year by working toward these showcase weekends in preparation big outdoor festivals each summer. Season-by-season, musicians who stick with it work toward a Summer 2013 West Coast Tour. RockGarage musicians choose [or write] the music that they want to perform plus a seasonal staff pick of essential rock classics make for a nd rd well-rounded repertoire. The staff pick for this seasons March 2 and 3 Utah Arts Festival shows is Have a Cigar by Pink Floyd. The kids chose the music of Foo Fighters, Offspring, The Beatles, Porcupine Tree, Cake, Led Zeppelin, The Who and more. Unlike performance-based, for-profit rock schools that use an in-house teaching staff and charge a tuition of up to $325/month, MusicGarage.Org groups are either free - or on a sliding fee scale that averages about $10/hour. MusicGarage.Org supports private teachers by giving their students performance goals that help private teachers keep students in private lessons longer. MusicGarage.org also subsidizes co-located, low-rent lesson studios for teachers. ABOUT MUSICGARAGE.ORG Founded in 2009, MusicGarage.Org is on a mission is to foster music performance, creation and production through its programs, services and facilities. MusicGarage.Org also works in Utahs public schools and at other satellite locations with programs like RockGarage, JazzGarage, MusicStudio and the new all-adult JamClub. Their expert staff have staged over 400 youth in nearly 300 concerts at venues, fairs and festivals nationally. In Utah, RockGarage kids have rocked stages at Deer Valley Amphitheater, Uncle Uncanny Music Festival, Desert Rocks Music Festival, Utah Arts Festival and more. MusicGarage.org provides a fun and safe musical environment in a new 5,000 sq ft facility with rehearsal studios, 18x15 stage, pro gear, lights, sound system, art gallery, screening room and more.
