FOCUS ON RIPENING This workshop, presented by the UC Davis Postharvest Technology Research and Information Center, is intended for shippers and destinations (wholesale and retail) handlers who are involved in ripening fruits and vegetables. The workshop focuses on how to increase profits by delivering ready-to-eat, delicious fruits and vegetables to the consumer.

COORDINATOR James Thompson has more than 29 years of experience as an extension engineer in the Biological & Agricultural Engineering Department and is Director of the Postharvest Technology Research and Information Center at UC Davis. He specializes in the engineering aspects of handling of crops after harvest, and energy management in agriculture. Specific areas of research include initial cooling and cold storage systems for perishable products; packaging; transportation; and drying and handling of grain, fruit and nut crops.
