There are certain sacrifices we make and certain traditions that we observe: The days of both Fast and Abstinence during Lent are Ash Wednesday February 22, 2012 and Good Friday, April 6, 2012. The other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence. On a day of Fast, only one (1) full meal is permitted. Those between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast. On a day of Abstinence, no meat may be eaten. Those who have reached the age of 14 are obliged by the law of abstinence. The obligation to observe the laws of Fast and Abstinence "substantially," or as a whole, is a serious obligation. The Fridays of the year, outside of Lent, are designated as days of penance, but each individual may substitute for the traditional abstinence from meat some other practice of voluntary self-denial as penance. The time for fulfilling the Paschal Precept (East Duty - All the faithful, after they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, are bound by the obligation of receiving Communion at least once a year) extends from the First Sunday of Lent to the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity. Lent Black books are available after all Masses. A donation of $1 is requested.
Our Mission Statement St. Dennis is a welcoming, Spirit-led, Catholic Community called to be disciples of Christ, servants of those in need and celebrators of Gods love.
Dear Family, We begin the great Lenten season this coming Wednesday, February 22nd with Ash Wednesday Mass times of 7:15 am, 9:30 am, noon (distribution of Ashes only at noon), and 7 pm evening Mass. When we receive ashes on the forehead we proclaim to ourselves and the entire world that I am a Christian and a follower of Jesus. We also imply that this life is brief, one day we too will be ashes. We know that because of Jesus resurrection we will live forever. Our lives are fragile and life is precious but I know God holds us ever so faithfully in the palm of His hands. We are called to repentance in these next forty days which means to change our direction, to seek God more fervently, to love others more deeply and to embrace who we are as sons and daughters of God. A blessed Lent to all. You are loved. In the Lords Love, Fr. Jim Curtin

Elaine Steinke by Dave & Judy Martis FEBRUARY 19, 2012 SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME God is merciful and desires to pour forth this mercy upon our lives. We only need to come to Him through His Son Jesus. We know that Jesus healed body, mind and soul as He forgave sins. He has empowered and commanded the Church to continue this ministry of healing and forgiveness. We only need to say Yes to His offer.
Dear Parish Family, More healings take place by prayers than doctors medicines. Thank you for all of your valuable prayers, get well cards and above all your love and concern when I was hospitalized and going through other treatments. Love, Fr. Thomson Pilgrim Virgin Statue
