City of Merchants.
Dubai City Tour
A fascinating historical excursion; our route takes us from Burj Al Arab, Dubais landmark hotel to Majlis Al Ghorfat, a magnificent structure constructed in 1955 and recently restored. The Majlis was originally the summer residence of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al-Maktoum. Driving past modern palaces, we stop at the Jumeirah Mosque for a photo opportunity. Our route then takes us towards Dubais Bastakia area to admire the old-wind-towered houses which were built by wealthy merchants, passing the magnificent Zabeel Palace on the way. Further on, we visit the Al Fahidi Fort, a 200-yearold structure that houses the Dubai Museum and records the citys past as an important pearl diving and trading centre. We continue our journey on a traditional abra, across the Creek, offering sights of a modern metropolis, with splendid architecture on its banks, dwarfing the bustling alleys of our next destination the gold and spice souks. Lunch included in the tour price.

A Capital Adventure.

Housed in an ancient fort, Ajman's enchanting museum will give you intriguing insights into lifestyles prior to the discovery of oil. We pass the King Faisal Mosque and Al Ittihad Monument, both built to honour the memory of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who was responsible for subsidising the development of Sharjah. While returning we will stop at the creek for an opportunity to photograph colourful dhows and visit the 165 year-old Al Naboodah House, which vividly recalls the way of life of a wealthy pearl trading family. We will walk through the Al Arsah Souk, one of the few remaining traditional market places and the Blue Souk, where more than 600 shops sell carpets, gold, silver, antiques and perfumes. We return to Dubai in time for lunch.

A Tale of Two Cities.

Images of Arabia - Cultural Walking Tour through Sharjah and Ajman*
This fascinating tour of two of the countrys Northern Emirates begins at an ancient fort that today houses Ajman Museum. This quaint 18th century fort originally served as the Rulers palace and office until 1970, when it became the main police station. After browsing through an interesting collection of archaeological artefacts, manuscripts, old weapons and reconstructions of traditional life, we stop for a photo opportunity at Al Magfirah Mosque, the largest mosque in Sharjah, built to honour King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who was responsible for subsidising the development of Sharjah before the discovery of oil. From here we continue our journey on foot through Sharjahs colourful fish and vegetable markets before we proceed to the famed Blue Souk, where more than 600 shops sell carpets, gold, silver, antiques, perfumes, garments and much more. Our next stop takes us to Al Arsah Souk, one of the countrys few remaining traditional marketplaces. We also visit the 165-yearold Al Nabooda House, which vividly recreates the lifestyle of a wealthy pearl trading family; Al Hisn Fort, the former residence of the Al Qasimi Ruling family, built in 1820 housing priceless objects, fascinating old photographs, classic weapons and trading tools tracing 200 years of Sharjahs history. Browse through the old souk area, part of Sharjahs original settlement, offering a variety of spices, nuts, dates, household goods and shisha and walk along the Creek past dhows laden with goods from Iran to the bustling Iranian market. We stop at Qanat Al Qasba for lunch before our party takes a scenic drive along Sharjahs Corniche Road. We stop for a quick photo opportunity at the Al Noor Mosque. Our last stop on this insightful cultural adventure is the majestic Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, which houses more than 5,000 exquisite Islamic artefacts from all over the Islamic World.
*Tour is available in winter only.

All information is correct at the time of going to print. However, hotels and services offered are subject to change without prior notice. Valid between 1st November 2011 and 31st October 2012 Hotels offering the facility of 24-hour check-in/check-out will apply this policy to all bookings and will not offer the option for passengers to book rooms based on standard check-in/check-out times. A night booked at hotels offering the facility of 24-hour check-in/check-out entitles the passenger(s) to stay for a period of 24-hours from their time of arrival at the airport. All check-out times will be in multiples of 24-hours thereof. For example, a guest who arrives at Dubai International Airport at 5am on a certain day must check-out from the hotel by 5am on the day he/she plans to leave, otherwise an extra day will be charged, even if the stay is extended by a few hours.
