Surfaces of Materials
The School of Chemical & Materials Engineering (SCME) is established as a School of Excellence to act as a precursor for research and development within public and private sector.
Research Interests

Organizing workshops and conferences is one of

the schools areas of focus as it results in sharing of knowledge and research skills. Surface

Materials Engineering, Ceramics, Ceramic Coatings, Ceramic Composites, Surface Treatment, Surface Engineering, Plasma Processing of Materials.

Academic Qualifications
Palmes Academiques, TWAS Laureate 2001. PhD (Ceramic Materials and Surface Treatments) (University of Limoges, France). Masters (Ceramic Materials and Surface Treatments) (University of Limoges, France). BEng (Metallurgy & Materials Engineering) (University of Engg & Tech. Lahore, Pakistan)

engineering is the technology of tailoring a surface by changing its structure and/or composition through application of an appropriate process. The desirable properties so produced maybe used for applications involving high strength, enhanced wear, friction, and corrosion resistance. This workshop will address various technical aspects of this vital field. The workshop will cover fundamentals about different types of surfaces, correlation between surface structure and its properties followed by a comprehensive review of major surface modification techniques including carburizing and nitriding treatments, thermal spray coatings, physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Activity 3 will be dedicated to advanced surface characterization techniques.
