Bronte School Headmasters Newsletter

24th February 2012

For different reasons I missed two major events this week. I understand that the weather was fairly good for Pancake Racescertainly better than some of the days we have experienced. Looking at the photographs there was lots of fun to be had and marvellous parental support. Well done to all participants and winners. The second event of the week was French Day on Wednesday described by one of the parents as one of the highlights of the year. Did that man really come all the way from France just for us?. Well yes he did and once again Cyrille, who was accompanied this year by Marcel the marionette and Martin the fisherman, provided the children with a fun packed day, reports Madame. When not with Cyrille the children made (and ate) crpes, discussing all the ingredients in French, drew/painted famous landmarks/ scenes in France, enjoyed board games, played on the computers (in French of course) and watched a humorous film called Chez Mimi. Amongst many other activities the younger children had a teddy bears soft toy picnic and enjoyed making a passport for their teddy and talking about it. Cyrille was very impressed with the level of the childrens spoken French and their excellent behaviour. I would like to thank all the parents who joined us for a very lively French breakfast which created a superb atmosphere at the beginning of the day. I would especially like to thank the staff for their support in helping our journe franaise to be such a success and Mrs. Britton for the immense amount of work she has put in leading up to and on the day, transforming the hall into a little bit of France. I will finish as I began with a quote from one of the children Can we have a French week next time please Madame?. Cyrille, whose company I missed so much, left me a note at the end of the day. Quelle excellente journe Bronte School! Bravo les enfants! What a fantastic day I spent today at your school. Children were on their best behaviour and most of all they spoke so much French with me and the others. Their ability to perform and use their language skills was brilliant. Merci beaucoup et bientt.

We welcome two new pupils, Aryan and Muskaan, from Merton Court School. Younger brother has joined Bronte Pre-School at the Nursery prior to being with us in Reception in September.
