FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT

TODAYS FOCUS Fourth Sunday of Lent: Throughout salvation history, God has show, again and again, His love for humanity. He did this most clearly and fully, however, by sending His only begotten Son to redeem us. Let us rejoice and give praise to our God.
STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION Midway through our Lenten preparation for Easter the readings remind us of the grace and mercy God bestows on those who believe in him. The people of Israel became ungrateful over time, no longer recognizing God as the source of goodness. Without Gods wisdom and mercy to share with the nations they were easily conquered and taken captive. Jesus, in his teaching, revealed that those who believe in the Son of the Father have eternal life and live in the light of truth. May we recognize the mercy of God through grace and become light for the world.
Please remember to name Our Lady of Lourdes or St. Marys Colgan Schools in your will. May we leave a legacy of faith and education for the generations to come. Please consider informing Fr. Mike or the parish office of your legacy plans, kraus@smcschools.org

The March 23rd Knights of Columbus fish fry will take place in the activity center from 5-7pm. We have been having a good weekly turnout--but let's make it a great turnout so that we can continue to help our parish groups by providing funds for their activities. This weeks fish fry proceeds will go to sponsor youth activities in our parish. These activities include sponsoring the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, purchasing kits for the Eagle scout elect, sending CJ Russell to Boy's State, and providing proceeds to the youth group activities. PLEASE support the Knights of Columbus fish fry so we can continue to support those in need!!!

We hope all parishioners are able to make one of these important meetings, held in the high school auditorium. Those with children enrolled at St. Mary's Colgan Schools are required to attend one of the meetings. Meetings last approximately 1hour 15minutes. Preregistration for the meetings is not required.
LENTEN FASTING & ABSTINENCE REGULATIONS The Catholic Church cannons regarding fasting and abstinence: Fasting The law of fasting requires a Catholic from the age of 18th to 59 to forgo the normal amount of food eaten. The Church defines this as one normal meal a day, and two smaller meals which together would not exceed the main meal. Such fasting is obligatory on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The fast is broken by eating between meals and by drinks which could be considered food. Abstinence The law of abstinence requires a Catholic 14 years of age until death to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and Fridays of Lent in honor of the Passion of Jesus on Good Friday.

VOCATION PRAYER: Lord of the harvest, send holy priests that they may sanctify and lead their brothers and sisters in the faith that they proclaim. Send, Lord, deacons to your church who, as they teach, encourage and evangelize, in communion with bishops and priests, walk in your truth. Call to religious life numerous generous souls to offer their life in the service of the gospel and become living witnesses of holiness. Reawaken among lay people their commitment in life that, collaborating with their pastors in the service of the ecclesial community, they may share in the mission of evangelization. We pray, Lord, that you continue to bless and enrich your church with the gift of vocations. We pray that many may welcome your call and bring joy to your church by their generous faithful response. Amen.
