Monday
2 periods Multiplication without Renaming Aim: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: 1) Recall multiplication facts from 2-10 2) Multiply a 2 digit number with a 1 digit number without renaming 3) Associate the term product with multiplication Activity: 1) Teacher will recap on multiplication concepts: regrouping, multiply in 2s, 4s and 6s, repeated addition by getting pupils to try out a doughnut example on the powerpoint slide. 2) Teacher to introduce multiplication algorithm to pupils using another example on the slides 3) Teacher to let pupils try out the algorithm (one sum) on their whiteboards using another activity on the powerpoint slides and also introduce the term product 4) Teacher to get pupils to guide her on how to solve a sum using the multiplication algorithm 5) Teacher to let pupils try on their own. 6) Teacher to let pupils complete the workbook exercise

Tuesday
2 periods Multiplication with Renaming Aim: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: 1) Multiply a 2-digit or 3 digit number by 2, 3, 4, 5 with regrouping in ones, tens and hundred in horizontal form by regrouping. 2) work in groups to carry out different activities in the different stations Activity: 1) Teacher will recap on previous lesson by giving pupils a sum and getting them to work it out. 2) Teacher will introduce multiplication with renaming by giving them an erroneous example and then ask them whats wrong. 3) Teacher will show pupils the right way to do it using linking cubes on the visualizer, and then a pictorial representation using the PowerPoint slides. 4) Teacher will show 1 more example and choose a pupil to come up to demonstrate. 5) Teacher to show pupils the 4 steps that need to be taken when doing multiplication with renaming and ask them what the additional step is. 6) Pupils will also engage in a group activity where they

Wednesday
2 periods Multiplication with Renaming Aim: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: 1) Multiply a 2-digit number by 2, 3, 4, 5 with regrouping in ones, tens and hundred in horizontal and vertical form using the mathematical algorithm. Activity: 1) Teacher will recap previous lesson of multiplying 2 digits by 1 digit with renaming by going through the activity from the previous lesson. 2) Teacher will get pupils to explain the solution 3) Teacher will demonstrate the abstract method of multiplication of 2 digits by 1 digits number with renaming. 4) Teacher to tell pupils that this method is faster because there would not be enough time during the exam for them to draw out rows and columns in order to get the answer. 5) Teacher will show pupils an example and how to go about multiplying. 6) Teacher will show pupils another example and get them to tell her what to do step by step. 7) Teacher will pose a question and pupils will do it on their whiteboards. 8) Pupils will do their workbook and hand it in by the end of the lesson.
