Homework: Homework will be assigned for each class session. Homework is essential to success in this course. To maximize student learning, the student is expected to spend at least two hours reading the textbook and doing homework outside of class for every hour spent in class. The student is responsible for solving all the problems assigned, showing work in a neat and orderly manner, and checking the answers in the back of the textbook. Homework will be collected on each midterm exam day, but will not be counted towards the nal course grade. Completing all the homework problems should help you prepare for the quizzes and exams. Homework assignment requirements: each assignment must be completed on loose-leaf paper (no frayed edges), stapled together, with the student name and the assignment number on the cover page. Quizzes: Six quizzes (20 points each) will be given throughout the quarter. No make-up quizzes. The lowest quiz score will be discarded at the end of the quarter. Midterm Exams: Three midterm exams (100 points each) will be given throughout the quarter. No make-up midterm exams. The lowest midterm exam score will be replaced by the nal exam score, if the latter is higher. Final Exam: A mandatory comprehensive nal exam (worth 100 points) will be given during the nals week. Any student who misses the nal exam will receive a grade of F for the course. For the date and time of the nal exam, look at www.deanza.edu/calendar/. Attendance and Drop Policy: Students are expected to attend all classes. Note that missing classes almost always adversely aects the students grade. Any student who misses two classes in the rst two weeks without notifying the instructor will be dropped by the instructor. If a student decides not to continue the course, it is the students responsibility to drop or withdraw by the ocial college deadlines. Failure to do so may result in a grade of F for this course. Academic Honesty: Students are responsible to inform themselves of College policies regarding the Code of Academic Integrity (www.deanza.edu/studenthandbook/academic-integrity.html). Cheating will not be tolerated and can result in receiving 0 on the quiz or exam and being reported to the Dean of the Division. Extra Help: The Math Tutorial Center (S43) oers free tutoring. Dot not hesitate to come to my oce hours to discuss a homework problem or any aspect of the course. Accommodations for Disabilities: Disability Support Services: 408-864-8753.
